Growing Your Own Organic Vegetable Garden at Home
There is nothing more satisfying than picking fresh cucumbers or chillies from your own terrace. I have turned my space into a productive mini-farm, and I can help you skip the trial and error to get the same results, regardless of your space.
Harvesting fresh cucumbers from my terrace garden. Using the right pruning tool ensures a clean cut without damaging the vine.
Another look at my cucumber harvest. These grew in a large grow bag on my terrace. Homegrown vegetables are fresh and taste so much better.

This is a small bitter gourd, or karela, ready to be harvested. Growing climbing vegetables is very rewarding on a terrace.
A closer look at a bitter gourd growing on my terrace. I use simple supports made of bamboo for the vine to climb on.
This is a ridge gourd, or 'tori', growing on a vine against a wall. They grow long and are a very healthy vegetable to have in your kitchen garden.
A dark green capsicum, or bell pepper, almost ready for harvest. Growing capsicum in pots is very much possible with the right care.
More capsicums growing on the same plant. You can see multiple vegetables at different stages of growth.

These are a variety of green chillies that turn dark, almost black, as they ripen. Perfect for adding spice to your food, straight from your garden.
About My Vegetable Patch
Stop wasting money on random gardening gear that simply doesn't work. I have spent years figuring out exactly which HDPE grow bags and soil mixes actually handle the Delhi heat and result in a real harvest, not just dying plants. It is all about the setup, from installing the right drainage mesh to the specific watering routine that keeps your vegetables thriving.
Gardening is usually sold as a complicated hobby, but it is actually quite simple if you know what to ignore. My approach focuses on practical container gardening that works in an urban environment like Delhi NCR. We start with the soil, which is the most critical foundation. Using a mix of cocopeat, vermiculite, and neem powder is a game changer, but only if you treat the cocopeat properly first. I will show you how to wash it to remove salts so your plants do not suffer.
Then we look at the hardware. You do not need fancy, expensive pots. High-density polyethylene (HDPE) grow bags are far superior for vining vegetables like bitter gourd (karela) and ridge gourd (tori) because they provide better aeration for the roots. For climbers, I will show you how to set up simple bamboo or trellised supports so your plants grow vertically, saving you precious floor space.
Finally, we will sort out a feeding schedule. Whether it is a slow-release granular bio-fertilizer for the soil or a liquid spray for an immediate nutrient boost, you need a plan that you can actually stick to. No magic, just consistency.
