About Behind the Decks
I don't just show up and press play. Every set is built from hours of tinkering at my home studio—blending tracks, experimenting with transitions, and finding that perfect rhythm. Whether it’s a specific mashup request or a new genre mix, you’ll see me test these blends right here at home before they ever hit a club floor.
What you see on the dance floor is just the final product. Behind the decks, it is all about preparation. I spend a massive amount of time in my home studio using Pioneer CDJ 2000 NXS2 gear to ensure every transition—from a gritty Afro-Tech drop to a smooth Bollywood melody—lands perfectly.
My approach isn't just about the music. I bring my background as an actor into every set. That means if the energy dips, I don't just stand behind the console; I pick up the mic, hype up the crowd, and keep the interaction alive.
I focus on a few key pillars for my sets:
- Technical Precision: Using industry-standard gear ensures that the sound is crisp, whether I am playing at a club in Mumbai or a sangeet in Bengaluru.
- Crowd Interaction: I watch the floor. If I see people wanting more Punjabi, we go heavy on Diljit or Karan Aujla. If the mood shifts to Retro, we bring out the R.D. Burman hits.
- Storytelling: Every event has a vibe. I treat my sets like a script, building tension and release to keep the dance floor packed.
