This magnificent Balaji painting is 25 years old and was made right here at our studio. Look at the intricate detailing on the crown and jewelry, and how the 24-karat gold still glitters so brightly today.
I feel that God is right there with us, we are just busy looking for him elsewhere. This finished Balaji painting, illuminated by diyas, is a powerful reminder of his divine presence in our lives.
Tirupati is heaven on earth. In our paintings, we try to capture the essence of the idol, which is adorned with gold and jewels. We use real gold and crystals to reflect the richness of our culture and devotion.
We are so proud to share the work of our students. Here are two beautiful Balaji paintings, each with its own unique color palette but both capturing the divine presence of the Lord.
The grandeur of Lord Balaji is absolutely mesmerizing. The happiness you feel when you finish a painting like this is truly divine and otherworldly.
Adding the finishing touches to our beloved Balaji. The fine black lines help define the intricate gold jewelry and bring a sense of completion to the divine face.
This beautiful Balaji painting was done by our student, Mrs. Chetana, a dentist by profession. You can see how her steady hand has created such beautiful, fine details on the garlands.
This close-up of a Lord Balaji painting captures his divine presence. The use of gold foils and gems portrays the richness associated with the deity, bridging the gap between the artist and the divine.
In Tanjore art, gold is more than a material. By adorning Lord Balaji in pure 24-karat gold, this painting mirrors the grand temple at Tirupati, where devotees offer their prayers and seek his blessings.
Gold shows the richness in our culture and heritage. It is important to use high-quality 24-karat gold so the shine remains for generations, as seen here on this intricate Balaji painting.
About Lord Balaji & Vishnu Avatars
When we finish the eyes of Lord Balaji, that is the moment the painting truly comes alive. We use authentic 24-karat gold foil and traditional Sudha limestone-paste embossing to ensure the radiance remains for generations, much like the temple idols themselves. Each piece is a slow, meditative process designed to bring a sense of divine peace to your pooja room.
Creating a painting of Lord Balaji or any Vishnu avatar is a practice of devotion for us here at the studio. We follow the 40-year-old family method passed down from my grandmother, which means no shortcuts. Every piece begins with a wooden base treated with limestone gesso, followed by the traditional Sudha embossing to give the deity depth and a 3D feel.
We exclusively use 24-karat gold foil because it doesn't just shine—it holds a distinct, rich lustre that synthetic alternatives simply cannot match. We adorn the crowns, jewelry, and arches with high-quality Kundan stones and Swarovski crystals, mirroring the opulence of the Tirupati temple.
Whether you are looking for a miniature for a small altar or a large heritage masterpiece for your living space, we ensure the iconography is accurate and the energy is serene. If you have a specific vision, I work directly with you to select the colors and details. Every painting we finish comes with a signed certificate of authenticity, so you know exactly what you are bringing into your home.
Tanjore Collective
I grew up with the smell of gold foil and paints, learning this 40-year-old family tradition from my mother and grandmother. Today, I pour that same devotion into every Balaji and Vishnu avatar painting I create, hoping to help you find the same sense of peace in your home that I find at my easel.
