City living comes with unique challenges, from noisy elevators to unexpected visitors. I help your dog navigate these situations calmly, teaching essential life skills that make urban life peaceful for both of you.

The ultimate test of training is when your dog listens to someone else in your absence. Here, Mishti follows a "no kitchen" boundary rule given by our neighbor, showing how well-established rules can be generalized.

What does a trained dog do in a new environment with new people? They mind their own business. This video shows Mishti calmly resting on her mat in an unfamiliar office, completely relaxed and unfazed by the activity around her.

Elevator manners are crucial for apartment living. I teach dogs to enter, sit or lie down calmly, and exit without pulling or lunging, making the experience stress-free for you, your dog, and your neighbors.

Creating a calm pre-walk routine is essential for a good walk. Here, Mishti demonstrates her learned behavior of sitting patiently at the door while I clip on her leash, preventing excitable dashing out.

The simple click of the leash has become a cue for Mishti to automatically sit at any doorway. This is an example of how consistent training creates reliable, automatic behaviors that make daily routines smoother.

One of the most important skills I teach is the ability to rest. A dog that can sleep and relax through distractions, like a robotic vacuum cleaner, is less likely to develop behavioral issues like excessive barking or destruction.

This moment makes me incredibly proud. Even with her food bowl waiting, Mishti, a highly food-motivated dog, chooses to come to me for affection first. This shows the power of building a relationship that is more rewarding than anything else.

Teaching a dog not to beg for food is about setting clear boundaries. Here, I'm having a "conversation" with Mishti, reinforcing our rule: "You eat your food, and I eat mine."

Impulse control games are a fun way to build focus. In this video, Mishti practices her 'wait' command before I release her to get the reward, teaching her patience and to look to me for cues.

A trainer's dog is their best resume. Here, Mishti holds a 'stay' command from a distance, remaining calm and focused despite being surrounded by strangers and another dog. This is the level of reliability we work towards.

About Calm in the City: Everyday Obedience & Impulse Control

Most dogs don't misbehave to be difficult; they do it because they are overstimulated by the chaos of city life. Whether it is helping your dog sit calmly in the elevator or teaching them to ignore the doorbell, we move beyond basic commands. We focus on 'capturing calmness' so your dog learns that doing nothing is actually the most rewarding activity of all.
