From Discovery to Design

Great spaces are rarely born from sketches alone. They emerge from listening, questioning, and understanding the context. See how we translate your vision into a physical reality.

This statement is the foundation of my practice. I believe architecture is a philosophy, not a checklist. The journey from an idea to a physical space begins with a deep discovery process, which allows the final design to be a true reflection of what truly matters.

My co-founder Yash Mehta explains our core belief: design is not decoration, but translation. We first uncover the intent, purpose, and meaning behind a project. The design that follows is a natural outcome of this foundational discovery, moving our work from a simple process to a guiding philosophy.

As Principal Architect, I stand by this approach. Great spaces emerge from a deep understanding of context. This is how architecture becomes more than a mere response; it becomes a reflection of a client's vision and a space's true potential.

Every material speaks its own language. This mood board for the Manikchand Svamitva Soulspring project shows my intentional approach to selecting finishes. From warm wood in the bedroom to anti-skid tiles in washrooms, each choice is defined by purpose, texture, and the experience I want to create.

Every project begins as a collection of thoughts, sketches, and diagrams. This collage represents the initial phase of my design process, where I explore forms, layouts, and concepts by hand. These initial explorations are crucial for developing a strong and coherent architectural vision.

My sketchbook is where ideas first take shape. These hand-drawn details and perspectives are part of the iterative process of design, allowing me to think through connections, forms, and spatial relationships before moving to digital tools. It is a critical part of my creative workflow.

Physical models are an essential tool in my studio for understanding scale, form, and space. This collection of models showcases how I test and refine architectural ideas in three dimensions, allowing my team and clients to see and feel a design long before construction begins.

This collage of physical models demonstrates my work on large-scale master planning and urban design projects. Building these models helps me visualize the complex relationships between buildings, landscapes, and infrastructure, ensuring a well-integrated and harmonious design.

This isometric sectional view provides a look inside the layers of a residential building. This type of architectural drawing is crucial for understanding the intricate details of an interior design and how different spaces connect vertically and horizontally within the larger structure.

A floor plan is the foundational map of a space. This rendered plan for a residential interior project illustrates the flow between rooms and the placement of furniture. It is a key tool I use to communicate the spatial organization and living experience to my clients.

About From Discovery to Design

Before we create a single digital render, we build physical white-block models of your site. This tactile process allows us to test volume, form, and how natural light hits a structure at different times of the day. It ensures that the scale feels right and the spatial flow works in real life, not just on a screen, before we commit to any final architectural plans.

Our approach to architecture is built on the belief that a building should be a translation of its purpose, not just an aesthetic exercise.

The Discovery Phase

We start every project with what we call a 'Lifestyle Workshop.' This is not a formal presentation but an honest, deep-dive conversation. We ask about your daily routines, your functional needs, and the stories you want your space to tell. This foundational research informs everything that follows, ensuring that the architecture we create is a direct response to your life, not a generic template.

Moving from Idea to Structure

Once we have a clear vision, we move into technical exploration. This includes:

  • Site Analysis: We study the sun path, wind direction, and soil context to optimize the orientation of your home for natural light and cross-ventilation.
  • Technical Documentation: We bridge the gap between design and construction with precise MEP layouts for electrical and plumbing, and detailed GFC (Good for Construction) drawings for your contractors.
  • Structural Coordination: We collaborate closely with engineers on complex elements like filler slabs and cantilevered balconies to ensure design integrity remains uncompromised during construction.

A Hands-On Approach

Our responsibility does not end at the design table. We believe in staying involved throughout the building process. Our architects make regular site visits during key milestones—foundation, roof casting, and final finishing—to monitor the quality of execution. Whether you are building a villa in Kanakpura or a residential tower in Bengaluru, our process is designed to turn your initial idea into an enduring, functional, and meaningful space.
