About Sketching & Drawing Sessions
For our community sketching sessions, keep in mind that these are bring-your-own-supplies events. You will need to bring your own pencils, charcoal, and sketchbooks to the UB City Amphitheatre, as we focus on roaming guidance rather than providing paper. It is a great way to use the tools you already know while getting tips from our lead artist.
Our workshops are split into two distinct styles depending on what you want to achieve. The Community Sketching & Art Jam is perfect for those who want a relaxed, unstructured hour to practice technique. Since it is held in the open-air UB City Amphitheatre, it is a casual environment where you can connect with other local artists. Because you bring your own tools, you get to work with the specific graphite or charcoal you are most comfortable with, while receiving mentorship from our lead artists.
If you are looking for a more structured approach, our Guided Acrylic Painting sessions provide everything you need. We supply the canvas, paints, and brushes, and walk you through step-by-step techniques for texture and composition. These are smaller batches, usually capped at 20 participants, so you get plenty of individual attention during the three-hour session.
Common Questions
- What should I bring? For sketching jams, please bring your preferred pencils, erasers, and sketchbooks. For acrylic workshops, just bring yourself; we provide all art supplies, including the canvas.
- Who is this for? Everyone. We see total beginners working alongside experienced hobbyists. You do not need to be an artist to join.
- Is it kid-friendly? Yes. The outdoor environment is welcoming, and these sessions are designed to be low-pressure and fun for families.
- Where are sessions held? We host most of our open-air events at the UB City Amphitheatre, though we occasionally run sessions at our Hyderabad gallery as well.
