Modern Ethnic Wear Video Styling & Direction
Creating content for ethnic wear is about setting the mood. From dramatic, shadowy velvet to soft, floral-infused pastels, I direct and style video content that makes your collection feel atmospheric and real.
I create elegant and atmospheric videos for brands. For this "Mughal Velvets" collection, I used dramatic, shadowy lighting and a simple moon prop to highlight the rich texture of the velvet and the intricate embroidery on these beautiful ethnic kurtas.
This concept shoot was all about creating a dreamy, ethereal world. I used a floral-filled set and soft, misty lighting to bring a pastel-colored Indian wear collection to life, focusing on a gentle, romantic mood.
About Modern Ethnic Wear
When I work with ethnic brands, I don't just point and shoot. For the 'Mughal Velvets' project, we used a single circular light to mimic a moon, creating those deep, dramatic shadows that make the fabric texture pop. It is about building a mini-world around the clothes rather than just showing them off, which helps the audience actually feel the weight and quality of the material before they buy.
Ethnic wear styling isn't just about matching colors. It's about deciding whether your collection needs a dreamy, ethereal vibe or a bold, high-contrast look. My process starts with a concept note and mood board. We discuss the brand identity, then I handle the wardrobe management—steaming, pinning, and accessorizing—to ensure every frame looks intentional.
My Creative Process
- Concept Development: We start by defining the vibe. Are we going for a romantic, garden-party aesthetic like my work for Vishudh, or something rich and moody? I research trends, but I always ensure the final output feels authentic to the brand.
- On-Set Direction: I am on the floor with you. Whether we are shooting in a studio in Bengaluru or on location, I direct the lighting and movement. I'm there to fix the drape of a saree or adjust the styling of a dupatta until it looks right.
- Technical Execution: My shoots are about high-end mobile cinematography. I use iPhone Pro gear combined with thoughtful transitions and beat-synced editing. This keeps the content fresh, modern, and ready for platforms like Instagram Reels.
Why Content Direction Matters
Most brands have the clothes, but they struggle with the narrative. My role is to bridge that gap. We create content that stops the scroll—not because it's flashy, but because it feels like a mood. If you have a festive collection or a bridal lookbook, let's talk about how to style it so it stands out in a crowded feed.
