I specialize in capturing the fine details of handcrafted jewelry. My approach blends creative styling with specific macro techniques to ensure your pieces—from traditional earrings to modern pendants—tell a unique, visual story.

The rich texture of oxidized silver and the pop of emerald green in these earrings asked for a soft, romantic setup. I paired them with a blush backdrop and an open book to hint at quiet luxury and timeless charm.

Capturing the dramatic details and royal hues of these kundan earrings was pure joy. I used a textured prop to complement the intricate craftsmanship, letting the emerald green beads and polki work shine.

These ornate blue earrings are set against a simple white plate and soft silk. This contrast allows the intricate Meenakari work and delicate bead clusters to stand out, creating a look of pure elegance.

Here, I used a mix of textures, including wood and soft fabric, to create a rich, layered look for these pastel-colored Meenakari earrings. The composition highlights the delicate beadwork and unique hexagonal shape.

This frame has a personal story. I was feeling creatively stuck until my son handed me this wooden tray. His simple idea sparked this composition, proving that magic happens when you allow for a little unexpected help.

Sometimes the simplest prop makes the boldest statement. A single golden fork holds these sunshine-yellow chandelier earrings, creating an unexpected and elegant composition that highlights their sparkle.

I shot these turquoise and diamond earrings with a soft, romantic feel, letting their elegance meet a dreamy, floral backdrop. For me, product photography should often feel like poetry in pictures.

This is one of my favorite shots. The sharp, geometric cut of these gemstone earrings is contrasted with the soft curve of a simple ceramic cup, creating a modern and artistic statement.

The deep green, textured surface of these emerald earrings is beautifully complemented by the soft, flowing silk. This simple, elegant styling allows the luxurious details of the jewelry to be the main focus.

The natural texture of a wooden slice and fresh greenery provides an earthy backdrop for these oxidized silver and green stone earrings. This styling emphasizes the handcrafted, traditional feel of the jewelry.

About Jewelry: The Art of Adornment

When photographing intricate jewelry, the biggest challenge is maintaining depth without relying on harsh lighting that ruins the mood. For my jewelry shoots, I use focus stacking, where I merge 5 to 10 exposures into one final frame. This ensures every gemstone and metal detail remains razor-sharp from front to back, all while preserving the soft, romantic lighting and textured styling that makes your collection feel special.

Great jewelry photography is not just about the object; it is about the emotion the piece is designed to evoke. Whether it is the weight of oxidized silver or the delicate sparkle of a polki set, I focus on styling that complements the piece rather than distracting from it.

My Approach to Jewelry Styling

I treat every shoot as a conversation between the jewelry and the lens. I use organic props like raw silk, wooden textures, and floral accents to ground the jewelry in a tangible, luxurious setting. The goal is to move away from flat, clinical e-commerce shots and move toward imagery that makes the viewer feel the texture and quality of your work.

Technical Precision

Jewelry is notoriously difficult to shoot because of reflections and depth of field. I rely on:

  • Macro Setup: Using specialized lenses to eliminate unwanted glares on gold, silver, or glass surfaces.
  • Focus Stacking: Essential for macro photography. This technique allows me to keep the entire piece in sharp focus, which is vital when you are zooming in on a complex pendant or a delicate pair of earrings.
  • Retouching: Post-production is where I polish the final result. I carefully remove micro-scratches, dust, and distracting studio reflections, ensuring the gold, rose gold, or silver tones look exactly as they do in person.

Collaborative Storytelling

Before we pick up a camera, we discuss the brand story. Are we going for a minimal, clean aesthetic, or something moody and rustic? By aligning the props and lighting with your brand identity, we create a cohesive gallery that builds trust with your customers. If you have a specific vision, I am here to help you bring it to life.

I'm Sonal. When I am not chasing after my two boys, you will find me with my camera, figuring out how to make a piece of jewelry tell its own story. I do not just want to take a picture of your pendant or earrings; I want to capture that specific feeling of luxury and detail that made you create them in the first place.
