Upcycled Textured Art for Unique Home Decor
Don't throw away what you can transform. I turn discarded boxes and old objects into one-of-a-kind textured art pieces that carry your memories.
Day 1 of my DIY project. I found this old whiskey box and decided to turn it into a piece of textured art. Here I am applying my homemade paste to create the base patterns.
Day 2 came with a mistake. The putty started falling off, so I had to scrape it all down and start over. Learning is part of the process, and I was determined to get it right.
Day 3, and the textured art box is finally complete. After making mistakes and restarting, seeing the final piece look so magical makes it all worth it. Never give up.
About Upcycled Textured Art
Transforming an old item into art isn't just about applying paint; it’s about base preparation. When I turned that whiskey box into a textured piece, the putty didn't stick initially—I had to scrape it all off and restart. If you have a sentimental object you want to upcycle, we need to assess the material first so the 3D texture holds up perfectly for years.
Why let old items gather dust when they can become the focal point of your room? Upcycling is my way of keeping sustainability at the heart of my work. Whether it is a vintage box, a wooden tray, or a forgotten decor piece, I apply custom textured art using specialized modeling paste, acrylics, and metallic accents to give it a fresh life.
My process for upcycled art is personal and patient. It starts with a consultation to understand what the item means to you. I prep the surface—often the most critical step—to ensure the 3D relief work adheres correctly. As you can see from my whiskey box project, I am not afraid to experiment or even start over if the texture isn't sitting right. This is not mass production; it is a slow, creative journey to make sure the final piece feels like it belongs in your home.
Beyond just the visual appeal, these pieces become conversation starters. They hold history, and I add a layer of modern texture to that history. If you have something lying around that needs a makeover, share a photo with me. Let's see what we can create together.
