Welcome to Karmasthan, India's first space in BTM Layout dedicated purely to volunteering. This is our hub where we plan, prep, and host a variety of inclusive workshops and community events every week.
Our Happy Festival is a day dedicated to joy and connection for visually impaired students. We organize everything from board games and treasure hunts to music jamming and audio-described movies, all with the help of our amazing volunteers.
It’s not just about big festivals. We create intimate moments of connection through art, like this live poetry session at our VIBE Festival. The genuine laughter and shared joy are what make our community special.

How We Make a Difference
We started in 2011 as a group of friends wanting to give back. Today, we are a massive volunteer community reaching over 25 special schools in Bangalore. We do not just run events, we build ecosystems where people of all abilities connect, celebrate, and learn together.
Weekend Volunteering
Our volunteers spend time every weekend at special schools. Whether it is dancing, painting, or teaching, these three hours change lives, including your own. We focus on being consistent rather than doing one-off visits, which helps us build real relationships with the students.
Inclusive Festivals
Tandav is our flagship event. It is a dance festival that breaks all barriers, featuring Shinkari Melam, dhol, and DJs. We make sure every child, including those with disabilities, takes center stage. We also run the Happy Festival for visually impaired students and Sign Fest to promote Indian Sign Language.
Learning and Skills
We run regular Indian Sign Language (ISL) workshops. These sessions are led by Deaf trainers to help bridge the communication gap in our city. Beyond this, we host open mic nights and poetry evenings at our Karmasthan hub to provide a platform for artists to perform for social causes.
Smileys
We are a grassroots movement that believes anyone can change the world if they show up. We have been transforming weekends in Bangalore for over a decade, using art and dance to bring people together, regardless of ability.
