Our work is a long conversation across generations. These stories, historical photographs, and documentary moments are the inspirations that guide our training and classroom practice every day.

Looking ahead to 2025. Our Founder-Director, Amukta Mahapatra, shares a glimpse of what's to come. From new collaborations and school support programs to innovative courses, we are excited to continue our mission of nurturing education at every level.

We are inspired by the story of David Horsburgh and the Neel Bagh school he started in a Karnataka village in 1972. This video is a teaser for a documentary that captures his amazing journey in creating a true learning process for every child and teacher.

A rare and precious photograph of Dr. Maria Montessori during her time in India. She is seen here with the renowned Indian physicist Dr. Raja Ramanna and his mother. This image is a beautiful link between the worlds of science, education, and Indian culture.

About Additional Glimpses

These glimpses are not just artifacts. When you look at the story of David Horsburgh and the Neel Bagh school, you are seeing the same principles of trust and autonomy we bring into our workshops today. It is about understanding that great pedagogy is timeless, not a trend. This history acts as a compass for us, reminding every educator that real change happens when we stop stuffing heads with facts and start honoring the child's own path.

Understanding where we come from is essential for any educator. Our work at SchoolScape, Centre for Educators, is deeply influenced by the history of child-centered learning in India. We believe that by revisiting these milestones—such as the rare documentation of Dr. Maria Montessori’s time in Mysore with Dr. Raja Ramanna—we gain clarity on our own daily practice.

The documentary on David Horsburgh’s Neel Bagh school is particularly close to our hearts. It serves as a reminder that meaningful education often happens far from urban centers, driven by a simple, radical trust in the child. This is the same spirit we strive to cultivate in our AMI-certified blended courses and our on-site workshops in Bengaluru.

We don't just teach techniques; we encourage educators to find their own meaning by studying the lineage of pioneers who came before them. Whether you are a parent or a school head, knowing this history helps ground your choices. It turns a standard classroom approach into a deeply personal, thoughtful journey of discovery. By exploring these archival moments, we hope you find more than just information—we hope you find the courage to build a learning environment that is authentic, human, and rooted in respect.

My work acts as a bridge between the wisdom of pioneers like Maria Montessori and the practical, daily realities of teachers in classrooms today.
