Artistic Food & Product Styling
I treat food and products as characters in a story. Whether you need moody, atmospheric visuals for a brand campaign or clean, graphic flat lays for a cookbook, I create the magic right in front of the lens.
This is a classic still life food photograph. I used dark, moody lighting and captured the rising steam to create a warm, inviting atmosphere that evokes the comfort of Indian chai.
A slightly different composition from the chai series, this shot focuses on the ingredients like ginger, cardamom, and cinnamon sticks. This type of detailed food styling is great for recipe books or brand packaging.
Nothing says summer like mangoes. For this shot, I used warm, directional lighting to emphasize the rich color and juicy texture of the fruit, creating a classic, appetizing food portrait.
The challenge here was to capture the delicate, translucent texture of the lychee flesh. The soft lighting and shallow depth of field draw the viewer's eye directly to the fruit in the bowl.
This photograph uses the contrast between the bright red watermelon and the dark, rustic background to make the fruit pop. It’s a simple yet powerful composition for food advertising.
This shot from my 'Indian Summer Fruits' series uses natural light to create a dark and moody feel. The focus is on the rich, dark color and texture of these native berries.
This top-down food flat lay highlights the deep, glossy purple of the Jambhul. The composition plays with different textures, from the smooth berries to the wooden board and fabric.
This composition showcases the Kokum fruit in various forms. The overhead lighting creates a clean, bright look while still highlighting the fruit's vibrant red color and unique shape.
I love playing with color and composition in food photography. This image contrasts the different colors of water apples against a dark background, with some sliced to show their texture with masala.
The unique star shape of this fruit is the hero of the shot. This flat lay composition is designed to showcase that feature, making it a visually interesting product photograph.
About Artistic Food & Product Styling
I don't rely on heavy post-production to fix a shot. I build my visuals in-camera using precise lighting—snoots, softboxes, and gels—and hands-on styling. When we shoot, you will see the frame come to life on the tethered monitor in real-time, so we know exactly when we have nailed the texture and mood before we move to the next set.
My Approach to Commercial Styling
Photography is about finding the vibe. For D2C brands and food publications, I move away from the standard, sterile product shots. Instead, I focus on tactile details—the condensation on a glass, the rough texture of a spice, or the perfect deconstruction of ingredients in my 'Food Family' series.
Why In-Camera Matters
I prefer creating the final image in the studio rather than relying on Photoshop. This means getting the light, the composition, and the color palette right the first time. I utilize commercial-grade lighting setups (Broncolor and Profoto) to ensure that when we shoot your product, the output is ready for high-resolution print or digital advertising without needing extensive edits.
The Process
- Concept & Mood Boarding: We start by defining the visual hook. I work with you to understand the brand aesthetic—whether it's dark and moody for a cafe or clean, minimalist knolling for a packaging infographic.
- Hands-on Styling: I don’t just click the shutter; I handle the composition. I source the props and arrange the elements to ensure the frame feels authentic.
- Tethered Approval: For all commercial and advertising projects, I set up a tethered station. You see exactly what the camera sees on a large screen, allowing for immediate feedback and adjustments on the fly.
Whether you need a full-scale advertising campaign with a crew or a dedicated 8-hour tabletop session for social content, my focus remains the same: creating high-impact visuals that make your product stand out.
Sanket Khuntale
I’m Sanket, and I view every product as a character waiting to be told. Whether I'm capturing the steam rising from a chai cup or deconstructing fruits into graphic patterns, my goal is to stop the scroll. I handle the styling and lighting personally, keeping the vibe honest and the visuals bold.
