Terrace to Home Gym Conversions
Stop paying for gym memberships and start working out at home. I take your unused open terrace and turn it into a private, weather-proof fitness studio that’s ready for any season.
Here’s a complete walkthrough of the private terrace gym we built. I’ll show you how we planned the layout to include space for multiple machines, a dedicated meditation room, and even a walking area, all while maintaining a great flow. We used black UPVC sliding windows and wooden flooring for a modern, industrial feel.
This video shows the complete process of converting an open terrace into a personal gym. You can see the initial construction phase with the metal framework and tin shed, followed by the final, fully equipped interior.
A wide view of the completed home gym. The layout provides ample space between the weight training machines, and the "No Pain No Gain" wall art adds motivation. The combination of wood-paneled walls and a dark, corrugated ceiling creates a professional fitness studio atmosphere.
This corner of the gym is dedicated to cardio, with a treadmill and elliptical machine. The large UPVC sliding doors open up to the outdoor lounge, letting in natural light and providing a great view during a workout.
Another angle of the gym, showing the multi-gym station and cardio equipment. We installed an air conditioner to ensure the space is comfortable for workouts in any season. The mirrors are strategically placed to help with form and make the space feel larger.
This shot captures the overall layout of the personal gym. You can see the dumbbell rack in the foreground and various strength training machines arranged to create a complete workout circuit. The lighting design includes both functional spotlights and ambient ring lights.
A closer look at the cardio section, featuring a treadmill, stationary bike, and cross-trainer. The wood-paneled accent wall adds warmth to the design, contrasting with the dark ceiling and walls for a balanced, modern aesthetic.
This area is set up for strength training, with multiple machines and a weight rack. We ensure there is enough space around each piece of equipment for safe and effective use. The hexagonal pendant light adds a unique design touch to the space.
About Terrace to Home Gym Conversions
Getting a home gym on your terrace isn't just about throwing some mats down. My team builds the structural skeleton first using heavy-gauge MS steel so it’s safe, and we finish it with insulated PUF panels so the room stays cool in summer and warm in winter. We handle the tricky stuff like waterproofing your floor slope before we even lay the wooden finish, so you never have to worry about leaks.
Why a Terrace Gym is Different
Most people think an open terrace just needs a shade, but that’s a quick fix that doesn’t last. I focus on making your gym an all-weather room.
Structural Integrity
We start by anchoring heavy-gauge MS box-sections to your floor slab. This is the foundation. Without it, you cannot install heavy equipment safely. We add insulated PUF panels and corrugated sheets to keep the temperature stable.
Finishes That Last
We use WPC fluted panels for walls. They look premium, are durable, and handle the gym environment without peeling. For the flooring, we use high-density rubber tiles or SPC wooden flooring that is moisture-resistant.
The Industrial Vibe
We paint ceilings dark and use track lighting. It gives the space a professional studio feel, not a makeshift shed vibe.
Everything Covered
From shifting the plumbing if you want a vanity, to concealing your wiring so you don't have cables dangling everywhere, we manage it. We even fit UPVC sliding windows so you can open up the space on pleasant days.
