My Realistic Pencil Sketching Process
Every portrait I draw starts with a single photo and a blank page. Here is a look at how I work, turning your memories into pencil art, whether I am at home or sketching on the go.
A free DP drawing I did for one of my followers. I enjoy doing these small sketches to connect with my audience and thank them for their support.
Another free DP drawing for a follower. It's a quick, creative exercise for me and a small gift for those who appreciate my art.
A portrait of Sameer MD, sketched in support of the Justice for Sowjanya movement. Art can be a voice, and I use mine to stand for what is right.
This portrait of Sowjanya is my small contribution to the call for justice. It is important to use our skills to bring attention to issues that matter in our society.
A charcoal sketch of actor Vijay Deverakonda. I enjoy experimenting with different styles and capturing the unique features of various personalities.
About From Photo to Art: My Process
Before I begin the shading, I always share the outline with you for approval, and once the drawing is complete, I apply a professional-grade matte fixative spray to every piece. This ensures your portrait stays crisp for years, preventing the charcoal and graphite from yellowing, smudging, or fading over time.
When you send me a photo, I see more than just an image. I see a moment you want to keep. My process is built around turning that digital memory into something you can hold. Whether it is an A4 size single portrait or a larger A3 family composition, I focus on the textures that make the drawing feel alive, from the shimmer in jewelry to the light in someone's eyes. I use professional-grade graphite and charcoal pencils on 180+ GSM heavyweight paper, which gives the art a tangible, premium feel. Once the sketching is done, I handle the protection with a heavy-duty fixative. While I do not provide frames—I deliver the artwork as a loose, securely packed sheet—this gives you the freedom to choose a frame that matches your home decor in Ramanagara, Bengaluru, or anywhere in India. I also include a digital preview for your approval before I dispatch anything. If you have a specific vision, let's talk. I enjoy merging separate photos into one cohesive drawing or capturing the intricate details of a deity or a loved one. Whatever the request, my goal is to create a piece of art filled with preethi (love) that you will be proud to display.
Sagar Kumar
Nanu Sagar Kumar, and for me, drawing is not just work; it is how I connect with people. I don't just copy a photo; I look for the soul in the eyes and the little details that make a person real. I pour my heart into every line, hoping to bring a little bit of happiness to your day.
