About Fresh Vegetable Harvests
You don't need acres of land to harvest your own produce. Whether we set up a 20 sq.ft patch on your balcony or a 100 sq.ft production farm on your terrace, I handle the heavy lifting: the UV-stabilized planters, the bio-rich soil, and the drainage setup. You just need to decide between an organic setup for maximum taste or a conventional one for a larger, quicker harvest.
Choosing Your Harvest Style
The biggest decision you will make is between an organic setup or an inorganic one. If you choose an organic vegetable garden, expect smaller produce, but the taste and nutrition density are usually superior. If you are looking for a bigger harvest and larger-sized vegetables, an inorganic setup provides a higher yield. I guide you through both options based on what your family eats most often.
The Setup Process
- Balcony Vegetable Garden (20–30 sq.ft): This is ideal for most apartments in Bengaluru and Mysuru. We use rectangular troughs and round pots made of UV-stabilized HDPE to withstand the heat. The setup includes geotextile fabric for drainage, bamboo stakes for climbing plants like beans, and a mix of fruiting veggies and leafy greens.
- Terrace Production Farm (80–100 sq.ft): For those with more space, we install 30 to 40 heavy-duty grow bags. We use a lightweight terrace mix of coco peat and soil to minimize the slab load on your roof. This system includes drip irrigation tubing and trellises for heavy creepers like gourds and pumpkins.
Why Start Now?
Setting up a kitchen garden isn't just about the food. It creates a micro-climate on your terrace or balcony, helping to cool the surrounding air. Whether you are a beginner growing microgreens on a kitchen counter or looking for a full-scale terrace farm, the setup includes the soil, seeds, and the initial training on watering and harvesting techniques. I want you to feel confident, so I leave you with a clear understanding of how to manage your plants after the installation is complete.
