Working and Sport Dog Training
High-drive training isn't about circus tricks. It is about building drive, precision, and a real bond through science-backed communication. Whether you are prepping for PSA or just want a sharper dog, this is the place to learn.
This is a glimpse into protection sport training with a Dutch Shepherd. The exercise requires immense control, focus, and clear communication between the dog and handler, even from a distance and at night.
Target training, like pushing this button, is a foundational skill for many advanced dog sports. It teaches the dog precision, focus, and the ability to work independently to solve a problem, which is critical for high-level competition.
The crisp, immediate position changes shown here are essential for competitive obedience and protection sports. This level of control and understanding is built through clear, consistent training that makes the exercises a rewarding game for the dog.
About Working & Sport Dog Training
Before you join these sessions, understand that this is not standard pet training. We work on drive building and precision marker signals, which means you need to be consistent and faster than your dog. Come ready to learn the mechanics of the NEPOPO system and operant conditioning, because my goal is to get your dog to a competition-ready level, not just sit-and-stay.
Building the Working Mind
In this cluster, we move past basic commands. My approach to training high-drive breeds like Belgian Malinois and Dutch Shepherds centers on communication. If your dog doesn't understand what you want, you get frustration. If they understand, you get results. We focus on:
- Drive Building: How to channel your dog's natural energy into focused work, essential for PSA and KNPV sports.
- Marker Training: Using clickers and clear verbal markers to pinpoint the exact moment of success. This builds the precision needed for complex sports.
- Behavior Shaping: Using operant conditioning to teach the dog to think and solve problems on their own, rather than just waiting for a command.
The Workshop Experience
My workshops in Delhi-NCR and Maharashtra are designed for owners and trainers who are serious about results. These are not luxury resort classes. You will be working on open fields, using real, rugged training methods.
- 3-Day Intensive: We spend three full days on hands-on application. You learn leash mechanics, how to read body language, and how to fix specific behavioral errors in real time.
- Theory & Practice: For those in the Observer Spot, we break down the psychology behind the action—operant vs. classical conditioning. If you are a handler, you get direct, 1-on-1 coaching.
Why This Works
I don't believe in force. I believe in making training a mental game that the dog actually wants to win. When you see a dog that was previously deemed 'un-trainable' or 'low-drive' start to succeed, you realize the power of clear communication. This is what it means to be smarter than your dog.
