Advanced Methods: Thinking Games & Behavior Shaping
Stop treating training like a chore. I teach you how to turn obedience into a high-engagement game using science-backed shaping. Your dog doesn't need force; they need to think.
I teach dogs to think for themselves. Here, you see a Malinois learning to push a button to get a reward. This isn't a trick; it's advanced operant conditioning that builds a dog's confidence and problem-solving skills, making training more powerful and reliable.
Training should be fun. This is a behavior shaping session where the dog is so engaged in the process that the reward is just a bonus. This is what happens when you build a dog that loves to work with you.
This video shows clicker shaping in action. The dog learns to associate the click with a correct action and a reward, allowing us to build complex behaviors step by step. It's a powerful tool for clear communication.
This is a practical application of operant conditioning for core obedience. The dog learns that offering the correct behavior (sit, down, or stand) is how it earns the reward. This creates a dog that actively participates in its own training.
About Advanced Methods: Thinking Games & Behavior Shaping
Most people try to force a dog into a 'sit' or 'down', and that’s why they fail. In my sessions, we stop the forcing and start the shaping. We use marker training to reward the 'thinking' process. It turns the boring obedience drill into a game where your dog is actually competing against themselves to get the reward, which is why the behavior sticks for life.
Training isn't about control; it's about communication. My approach to behavior shaping is built on pure science—operant and classical conditioning, and the NEPOPO® system. When you use clicker shaping, you aren't just teaching a dog to 'sit' because you pushed their butt down. You are teaching them to offer the behavior because they’ve figured out that the action is the key to the reward.
This is not for people looking for a 'quick fix' or magic tricks. Whether you have a high-drive Belgian Malinois or a pet you want to be more attentive, the principle is the same: you have to be smarter than your dog. In our 3-day workshops in Delhi-NCR and Maharashtra, we break this down into:
- Engagement Building: Why your dog ignores you (and how to fix it).
- Marker Training: Using the clicker to communicate 'yes' before the food arrives.
- Problem Solving: Handling leash reactivity or pulling by changing the dog's mindset, not just their collar.
I run these sessions with a strict cap of 10-12 dogs per batch because I don't believe in crowded classes where nobody learns anything. You’ll get hands-on experience, see live demonstrations, and learn to read your dog’s body language—ears, tail, posture—in real-time. If you want a dog that is mentally tired, happy, and actually listens, you’re in the right place.
