About Foundational Techniques & Motifs
The most important part of learning mehendi is mastering your grip. Many beginners struggle with wobbly lines simply because they are pressing the cone too hard or holding it incorrectly. I teach you how to maintain consistent pressure, which allows the henna to flow smoothly for sharp, clean outlines. Once you nail this, building motifs like flowers, paisleys, and the classic peacock becomes natural, and your hands will not tire as quickly.
Building Your Skills
Learning mehendi is about more than just copying designs. It is about understanding how to map out a hand and balance the patterns. In my Andheri studio, we strip back the complexity to focus on the basics that every professional artist needs to know.
The Core Curriculum
- Coneology & Grip: We start by learning how to roll your own cones and hold them for maximum control. You will practice drills to get steady lines and master the pressure needed for thick versus thin strokes.
- Pattern Construction: You will learn to draw the 5-petal flower, classic paisleys, and the S-flow structure used in Arabic mehendi. These are the elements that make up 80% of the designs you will do for clients.
- Design Layouts: Understanding how to connect a wrist design to the center of the palm is what separates a beginner from a professional. We focus on spacing and negative space to keep your designs looking clean and not crowded.
Why This Matters
My training is practical. Whether you want to do party mehendi or start a career as a bridal artist, you need a strong foundation. I don't just show you how to draw; I show you how to draw efficiently. If you learn the right way now, you will save hours on the job later. My goal is to get you comfortable with the cone so you can build your own style, whether it is traditional Rajasthani or modern Indo-Western.
