Kambala and Hattihabba Cultural Photography
The roar of the Kambala track and the chaotic energy of Hattihabba are best seen through a lens that understands them. I do not just take photos here; I document the speed, the tradition, and the spirit of our Karavali roots exactly as they happen.

About this collection
Shooting these events is pure instinct. You will not find me setting up lights or asking for poses because the action does not wait for anyone. I use fast telephoto lenses to track the buffaloes from a safe distance and wide angles to capture the crowd's reaction, all while keeping my gear protected from the flying mud and dust.
Capturing the Pulse of the Race
Kambala and Hattihabba are not events where you can simply plan a shot. The energy moves too fast. My approach is entirely documentary. I treat these festivals as raw history being made, focusing on the adrenaline of the racers and the intensity of the spectators.
At a night Kambala, the challenge is the lighting. The floodlights create high contrast, and the speed of the buffaloes requires very high shutter speeds to freeze that water splash. I rely on fast primes and professional-grade telephotos to get the shot without interfering with the race track.
More Than Just a Race
When I shoot Hattihabba, it is about the community. It is the organized chaos that defines the festival. I look for the moments that happen away from the main action: a participant's focused face, the crowd's collective gasp, or the dust settling after a calf runs through the path. These are the details that tell the real story of our traditions.
My goal is to provide a collection of images that put you right back in the middle of the grounds. Whether you are a local who wants to preserve these memories or someone interested in the cultural documentation of Karnataka, I deliver high-resolution files that capture the grit and the joy of the day.
