Custom Resin Washbasins and Architectural Art
I design pieces that turn daily utility into art. From glow-in-the-dark washbasins to one-of-a-kind door handles, let's add an exclusive, handmade touch to your home.
Ever seen a glow-in-the-dark basin? This one is all about how light sneaks through resin and bounces off the curves, making a solid object feel like it's breathing.
My last basin was about sharp, clean form. This one is about the glow. Every 'oops' during the shaping process turned into a new idea, and every curve became a conversation.
Part 2 of my wood and resin door project. The first version was a bit too transparent, so I took it back to the studio, removed the resin, and started fresh to get it just right for the client.
I recently created these Pinterest-worthy glass-like wardrobe handles for a client. It came with challenges like air bubbles and resin shrinkage, but I love how the mint and baby pink glitter handles turned out.
Wood, shells, resin, and... stay tuned for part 2. A sneak peek into the making of a custom wooden door with a resin and shell inlay.
My art studio isn't just a space, it's a sanctuary. This video shows the geode-inspired sliding door to my studio, and a glimpse of the creative chaos inside.
A quick tutorial on how to create your own custom silicone mold. Here, I'm making an 'S' initial mold that can be used for creating personalized door handles or decor.
A summer of exploration has recharged my batteries. Now I'm back in the studio, working on developing new sets of custom door handles and experimenting with silicone molds.
Just having some fun creating one-of-a-kind custom handles for a little girl's room. Every tiny detail should feel magical.

About Functional Art: Basins, Doors & Handles
When I build a resin basin, the hardest part isn't the casting—it’s the light. I spend days testing how light moves through the material, because a piece like a washbasin needs to look just as good empty as it does when it is illuminated. I don't just pour resin and walk away; I build these in layers so the light diffuses naturally, making the entire object look like it's glowing from within rather than just having a bulb stuck underneath it.
Functional art shouldn't just be pretty; it has to survive your daily routine. That’s the reality of what we make in my Andheri West studio. Whether it’s a resin washbasin that sees water every single day or door handles that get pulled on constantly, the chemistry has to be perfect.
I use high-viscosity, UV-resistant epoxy that won’t yellow over time. For basins, we use specific heat-resistant and waterproof sealants because I know that in a real home, things get wet, things get hot, and things get used. My goal isn't to make museum pieces you’re afraid to touch; I want to make things that hold up to the chaos of family life while still looking like a gallery installation.
If you have a specific space, like a powder room or a main door, we usually start with the measurements and the vibe you’re chasing. Do you want something transparent that catches the morning light, or a solid, moody piece with deep pigments? I sketch out the mold designs first, and we often have to experiment with the resin pour to get the right opacity. It’s not a fast process, but that’s how we make sure the final handle or basin doesn’t just fit your door or counter—it makes the room.
Poonam Shah Art Studio
I’m Poonam, and I spend my days turning functional home fixtures into something that actually makes you stop and stare. My studio in Andheri is usually a mix of resin dust, late-night experiments, and whatever project my daughter, Ayaana, has helped me sketch out that morning. We don't do mass-produced; we do pieces that feel lived-in and real.
