Building Trust with Shy & Anxious Pets
Not every dog is ready to jump into a pack. We create the quiet, pressure-free space your shy doggo needs to settle in at their own pace.
We often hear from pet parents, ‘She’s anxious and may not be friendly.’ We understand that fear, and our greatest joy is showing them how their beloved pet can warm up and feel safe with us. It’s all about patience and letting them come to us on their own terms.
It’s hard to say goodbye. This is Tai Chi, who boarded with us for three months. It took a full month for her to trust us, and by the end, she had all of us wrapped around her tiny paw. We get attached, and that’s just part of who we are.
This is Cooper, bounding straight into our hearts. We were told he might be wary of new people, but he took to our team instantly. We have a special way with pets who need a little extra understanding to feel secure.
This is Marie Ann. She is shy, delicate, and prefers to observe from a distance for now. We always tell our nervous guests, "We are ready when you are," and give them all the space and time they need to build trust.
The best reward is seeing a once shy pet completely relaxed. After taking her time to get to know us, little Tai Chi made herself right at home on her favorite comfy beanbag. This is what success looks like for us.
About Building Trust with Shy & Anxious Pets
If you are worried about how your pup will handle a new environment, know that we never force social interaction. For reactive or shy guests, we skip the group play entirely and provide solo yard time with a dedicated handler who reads body language cues to prevent stress before it happens.
Our Approach to Anxious Pets
Many of the dogs who come to our facility in Yelahanka and Bettahalasuru arrive with anxiety. They might be overwhelmed by new faces, loud noises, or simply the change in routine. Our philosophy is simple: we let them set the pace. If a pet needs a week to just sniff us from a distance without physical contact, that is exactly what we give them.
The Decompression Space
We provide a quiet zone away from the energy of the main play areas. This gives reactive dogs a place to decompress where they aren't constantly on high alert. Within these zones, we offer:
- No-Force Interaction: Staff sit near kennels to build trust through presence rather than grabbing or petting.
- Solo Yard Time: Exclusive access to outdoor space so your pet can run without the stress of navigating a pack.
- Senior Handler Assignment: Only our most experienced team members handle dogs that show signs of aggression or fear, ensuring they can spot triggers before a situation escalates.
Monitoring and Updates
We know it is hard for you to be apart from a nervous pet. We provide twice-daily photo and video updates to show you how they are doing. Whether they are finally eating in front of a staff member or sleeping soundly on their own beanbag, you will see the milestones. Our goal is to ensure that by the time you pick them up, they feel safe, secure, and ready to go home.
