Why My Jams Are Different

People know me as the "Punjabi Aunty" behind Pikkle Shikkle, but honestly, my kitchen is just as famous for the smell of bubbling fruit jams as it is for pickles. I started making jams because I missed that pure, ghar jaisa swaad (homemade taste) you can't find in store-bought jars. My husband Ekbal and I, we don't cut corners - only real fruit, nothing else.

What Goes In (And What Doesn't)

  • Bilkul natural (completely natural): Only real fruit, sugar, and a squeeze of lemon. No preservatives, no artificial colours, no weird aftertaste.
  • Homemade with care: Every jar is pyaar se banaya (made with love) in my own kitchen, not in some big factory.
  • Local fruit: I buy from local vendors, so the fruit is always fresh and the taste is always real.

How I Make It

I wash and sun-dry the fruit, chop it up, and slow-cook in small batches. Because these are no preservatives jam, you gotta keep them in the fridge. Ek baar try karke dekho (just try it once), you’ll know what I mean by real fruit taste.

My Story

People call me the Punjabi Aunty of Pikkle Shikkle, and honestly, I love that! Started this whole thing when I hit 60 - no retirement for me, bas nayi shuruaat (just a fresh start). My kitchen is my playground, where I dig up old family recipes and whip up homemade Punjabi pickles and jams. My husband and I enjoy chatting with folks at Bangalore food markets. Sharing a taste of home, 'ghar ka achaar', is pure joy for me.
