About The Art of Black & White
When I convert a photo to black and white, I am specifically looking for texture—the way light catches the weave of a saree or the depth in a quiet glance. This style works because it removes the distraction of bright colors, forcing the eye to settle on the genuine connection between you and your partner.
For me, black and white is never just a filter or an editing choice. It is a way of seeing. When we strip away the vibrant colors of a wedding or the busy background of a city street, we are left with the essence of the moment.
Why I Focus on B&W
Photography often gets loud with colors, but emotions are usually quiet. A gentle hand on a shoulder, a smile shared during a hectic Sangeet, or a serious expression during a traditional ritual—these moments deserve focus. By removing color, I direct all attention to the expressions and the chemistry you share.
Where This Style Shines
- Intimate Portraits: In pre-wedding sessions at heritage sites, the dramatic lighting against old stone architecture looks incredible in monochrome. It brings out a classic, cinematic quality that highlights the history of the location and your modern bond.
- Engagement Ceremonies: Engagement events are full of nerves and excitement. Black and white helps capture the tenderness and anticipation without the distraction of bright, contrasting venue lights or clashing outfits.
- Candid Moments: During the chaos of a celebration, a candid shot in black and white can feel timeless. It creates a documentary-style image that feels like it could have been taken in any decade, focusing purely on the story unfolding.
My goal is to give you images that do not just document a day, but convey the feeling of that day for years to come. Whether we are shooting in a home studio or at an outdoor location, I look for contrast and light that will translate beautifully into this classic format.
