When you look at these portraits, you see the expression, the hand-holding, and the weight of the moment, not the decor. It is a deliberate choice for images meant to feel as relevant in fifty years as they do today.
Beyond Color
Color can sometimes pull the eye toward outfits or background details. When I shoot in black and white, I am looking for the texture of a veil, the geometry of light hitting a face, and the intensity of a gaze. These images are about the architecture of a moment.
