Featured: Our Journey of Rescue, Education, and Kindness
Welcome to the heart of Oh My Dawg. From our successful adoption drives to school workshops, these are the moments that define our mission: teaching compassion and helping every Indie find their forever home.
This is what it's all about. A moment of pure, gentle connection between a child and a rescue dog at one of our adoption drives. Teaching compassion from a young age is the foundation of my work, and moments like this give me hope for a kinder future for our animals.
Here I am, arm in a sling and all, conducting a compassion workshop at Lawrence High School. An accident couldn't stop me from sharing my passion. It's so important to teach children how to safely and respectfully interact with community animals, and my own Indie, Miney, is the perfect co-teacher.
Just look at this hopeful face. This is a 1.5-year-old Indie mix we rescued from the street, now looking for her forever home. She is calm, affectionate, and a perfect example of the loving companions our Indian dogs can be when given a chance.
A quiet moment of care amidst the excitement of an adoption drive. Here, a volunteer comforts two rescued puppies as they rest. It takes a community of kind hearts to do this work, and every person who fosters, volunteers, or donates is a hero.
This is the story of how I became a 'foster fail' parent to my wonderful Miney. I only planned to foster her temporarily, but from the moment she walked into my home, I knew I could never let her go. This is the magic of adoption, a journey I encourage everyone to consider.
Advocacy is a huge part of our work. We believe in humane, long term solutions like sterilization and vaccination, which is what the Animal Birth Control rules were designed for. It's about creating safe communities for both people and our street dogs through coexistence, not cruelty.
Knowing how to spot signs of illness in your pet is crucial for their wellbeing. Our in-house vet, Dr. Anubhav Mishra, shares some key indicators to watch for, from changes in their eyes to shifts in their activity levels. We believe in empowering pet parents with knowledge.
About this collection
When I host an adoption drive, the process goes beyond just meeting puppies. I conduct temperament checks and personality matching, asking potential adopters about their lifestyle and activity levels to ensure a sustainable 'forever' fit. My background in psychology means I focus heavily on the emotional readiness of the adopter, not just the physical space, so expect a few detailed questions from me when we chat.
Our Mission in Action
At Oh My Dawg, every adoption drive is a chance to bridge the gap between a rescue in need and a family looking for love. We don't just want to place animals; we want to build lasting relationships. Whether we are at a school in HSR Layout or a community center in Koramangala, my goal remains the same: proving that Indies thagobeku (we should adopt Indies) is the most compassionate choice a family can make.
Why Compassion Matters
My work in schools is the foundation of everything I do. By teaching children how to read a dog's body language—like 'becoming a tree' when approached by a nervous stray—we are reducing fear and increasing coexistence. It is not just about safety; it is about building a generation that sees our 'beedhi naayi' (street dogs) as fellow community members rather than nuisances.
How We Support You
If you are feeling overwhelmed by the thought of adoption, let's talk. I believe in honest, transparent counseling. I will walk you through what it means to bring a rescue home, including the potential behavior hurdles, vaccination schedules, and the sheer joy of watching a dog blossom after they realize they are finally safe. We support foster-to-adopt journeys because we know that sometimes, you need to see if it’s a match before signing the adoption papers. Reach out if you want to understand how a rescue might fit into your home, or if you want to bring one of our compassion workshops to your local school.
Oh My Dawg
I’m Sneha, and I believe my background in psychology helps me connect with rescue animals on a deeper level. I don't just see pets; I see individuals needing a second chance, whether that’s in a school classroom or a new home. My mission is to show that Indies make the most loving companions if we just give them the right support.
