Our Craftsmanship & Ethnic Artistry
A look at how I blend traditional Marwari embroidery techniques with modern custom tailoring to create outfits that are truly one-of-a-kind.
This is where it all begins. An artisan carefully embroiders a design onto fabric stretched on a frame. This slow, methodical process of handwork is what ensures the quality and uniqueness of every garment we make.
I draw immense inspiration from Marwari culture, as seen in this traditional gota patti and sequin work. The rich gold detailing on the red fabric is a hallmark of Rajasthani design, bringing a sense of heritage and royalty.
Here, I've added custom kundan-style motifs to an ombre chiffon saree to give it a new life. This kind of detailed embellishment is a great way to upgrade a simple saree for a more festive occasion.
About Our Craftsmanship & Inspiration
Because I use traditional aari-tari and Kundan setting techniques, a single blouse can take up to 15 days of frame work. I don't rush the needle, because that is where the finish lives. This means every piece is constructed on a frame to keep the fabric taut, ensuring the beads and thread embroidery sit perfectly without puckering or pulling.
At Odhani, every stitch tells a story. Inspired by the rich textile heritage of Marwar, my focus is on detailed hand-embroidery—the kind that machines simply cannot replicate. Whether it is gota patti work on a festive lehenga or delicate thread embroidery on a kurti, I work on a frame. This allows me to control the tension of the fabric, which is essential when applying heavy Kundan stones or intricate zardosi work.
Why the Process Matters
When you bring a design to me, we don't just stitch it; we engineer it. For lehengas and gowns, I use horsehair braid at the hemline to ensure the right fall, and I install boning in bodice structures so you get a perfect fit without needing to rely on a bra. I also use premium Rubia or pure cotton linings for blouses, ensuring the fabric is breathable, especially during the long hours of a festival or wedding function.
How We Create Together
If you have a Pinterest board or a specific look in mind, bring it to my studio in Sector 49, Gurugram. If you are not sure what you want, we will figure it out together. We start with a consultation to decide on the neckline, sleeve length, and the style of cut—whether that is a Princess cut, Darted, or Katori style. I offer two rounds of trials to ensure the fitting is spot on, with zero armhole gaping or shoulder slips. My goal is to make sure the outfit looks as good on you as it feels to wear.
