Heirloom Recipe Journals for Meaningful Gifting
Turn fleeting kitchen memories into permanent family heirlooms. These silk-bound journals are designed to hold the stories and secret 'andaaze se' (by estimation) measurements that make your home food irreplaceable.
(Hero Item) We believe family recipes are treasures, just like the sarees and jewelry passed down through generations. I created Nivaala after losing my own mother's recipes, wanting to ensure no one else felt that loss. This journal is a way to preserve those culinary legacies, turning memories of `ghar ka khana` (home food) into a tangible heirloom that lives on forever.
This is why we do what we do. When a company gifts our journals for Diwali, it goes beyond a simple present. It sparks conversations, connects team members through stories of family and food, and creates a sense of community rooted in shared heritage. We are now taking bulk gifting orders for the festive season.
We had the honor of creating this beautiful, custom red silk-bound cookbook for the Mathur family. For corporate orders, we can weave your company's story and logo into the design, making it a truly personal and celebratory gift for your team or clients during the festive season or for special milestones.
This is where the magic happens. A handwritten recipe for Shalgam and Channa, passed down from a `nani` (maternal grandmother) to her `maa` (mother). Our journals have dedicated spaces for ingredients, instructions, and the little memories that make a dish special, capturing the unique `andaaz` (instinct) of each family cook.
The cover of our journal, beautifully illustrated, captures the soul of an Indian `rasoi` (kitchen). It’s a celebration of the tools, ingredients, and traditions that shape our palates. This isn't just a book; it's a piece of art designed to hold your company's most cherished stories.
This is my mother, Neena, with my brother. I started Nivaala because I lost her before I could write down her recipes. This mission is deeply personal. When you gift a Nivaala journal, you're not just giving a book; you're sharing a piece of this story and inviting others to preserve their own.
The best recipes are born from observation and scribbled notes. Here, a family recipe is being documented right in the heart of the kitchen, next to the masala dabba. Our journals are designed to be used, to gather stains and stories, and to become a living document of a family's culinary history.
About this collection
This journal isn't a disposable corporate hamper. It is built with oil-resistant Glasso paper and a lie-flat binding specifically so it can sit in the kitchen, gather turmeric stains, and survive real use while your team records the recipes they have inherited from their mothers and grandmothers.
Why a Recipe Journal Matters
Many of the best recipes in Indian homes exist only in muscle memory. The 'thoda sa' (a little bit) of salt or the 'chutki bhar' (a pinch) of turmeric passed down from a 'nani' (maternal grandmother) are rarely written down. When those voices fade, the recipes often go with them. We created these journals to stop that loss.
Designed for the Indian Kitchen
Unlike standard notebooks, our journals are built for the place where cooking actually happens.
- Glasso Paper: Oil and water-resistant pages mean you do not have to worry about splashes or spills while cooking.
- Lie-flat Binding: The section-sewn spine stays open on your counter, allowing you to focus on the 'rasoi' (kitchen) while you document your steps.
- Structured Layout: Dedicated space for 'memory' notes, source, and prep time keeps family history alongside the ingredient list.
Customization for Teams
We work with organizations to turn these journals into meaningful gifts. Whether you are planning for Diwali, a team anniversary, or employee onboarding, we offer:
- Bulk Orders: Starting from 25 units.
- Brand Integration: We can incorporate your company logo, belly bands, or a personalized message from the founder to ensure your brand feels like part of the family story.
- Social Impact: Every book sold includes a meal donation to the Khaana Chahiye Foundation.
Your gift should not just be another item on a desk. It should be something that sparks conversations about heritage during the next office potluck and finds a permanent place on a bookshelf at home.
Nivaala
We started Nivaala after losing our founder's mother's recipes, realizing too late that memories need a home. Our journals are a quiet attempt to make sure no one else has to search for a lost taste of 'ghar ka khana' (home food) after a loved one is gone.
