This video shows a bold, tribal-style winged design I did on the back of a hand. It also gives you a glimpse of my artists at work in the studio, handling different client projects.
About Black & Grey Artwork
When I work on black and grey pieces, I prioritize the use of magnum needles for smooth gradients rather than just simple outlines. Achieving that 3D depth—whether it is on a clock face, a rose, or a portrait—depends entirely on how I pack the ink to build shadows from light to dark.
Black and grey tattooing is all about understanding light and shadow. It is not just about using black ink. I use strategic skin breaks—leaving parts of your natural skin tone visible—to create highlights that make the design pop. Whether you want a large chest piece or a forearm design, the composition needs to flow with your body. For a medium piece, like a rose or a religious motif, we usually look at a single 3 to 4-hour sitting. If we are doing a full sleeve or a complex portrait, we often split the work into two sessions to ensure the shading is consistent and comfortable for you. I use professional-grade liners for the structure and magnums for the shading work, ensuring the texture looks soft, not harsh. My studio in Tilak Nagar follows strict hygiene protocols. We open fresh needle cartridges and use sanitized gear for every client. If you have a specific reference photo or an idea in mind, bring it to the studio. We can map out the design together to make sure the size and placement work well with your muscle structure.
