Shines are where you find your own rhythm, independent of a partner. Whether it's Mambo, Son, or classic On1 and On2, these classes help you own the floor and express the music through your feet.

Keeping it simple with some midnight mambo shines from the master, Eddie Torres. The way each shine loops so perfectly is just amazing. This is the kind of clean, classic footwork we practice to build a strong foundation.

When I'm missing the stage, I create my own. A little Mambo and Pachanga session to feel that performance energy. This is a great example of how you can blend different styles into your solo salsa dancing.

This shines combo started in one of my classes and I just had to finish it. It's a great example of how we build on basics to create fluid and expressive Salsa On1 choreography with some fun extensions.

A dance party for one. Sometimes all you need is 30 minutes alone in the studio to put on some Mambo and just move. This is my way of resetting and finding my flow.

Here's a little Salsa On 2 combo I put together at The Practice Room in Abu Dhabi. My shines classes focus on developing clean technique and musicality so you can improvise with confidence.

Even ten minutes of studio time can be a total reset. This is my process for a quick creative session: pick a song, start moving, and find a flow. It's a great way to reconnect with your own style of dancing.

Getting out of a dance rut means just showing up and moving. This was me improvising to some Mambo after a month-long slump. It’s not about being fancy, it’s about reconnecting with the joy of dance.

Sometimes the best dance sessions happen when you're procrastinating. I was on my way to the gym but this Son-infused salsa track stopped me. This is a great example of dancing to the clave and feeling the rhythm.

Spontaneous living room dancing can lead to some really cute results. This is a fun Salsa On2 improv session, proving you can practice your shines and have fun anywhere.

A spontaneous salsa moment against the majestic Jebel Hafeet mountain. This shows how you can take your Son Montuno and salsa basics and dance anywhere your heart desires.

About Salsa: Shines & Footwork

I don't just teach steps; I teach you to hear the music. In my shines classes, we strip back the partner work to focus purely on your foundation. You will learn how to interpret the Clave and Conga rhythms so your footwork actually matches what the song is doing, rather than just memorizing patterns. It is about understanding the conversation between you and the percussion.
