Bangalore by Night: Cycling Through Hidden Lanes
We trade late-night parties for the quiet hum of empty streets, exploring heritage homes and vintage gems on two wheels.
Our cycles parked in front of the magnificent Vidhana Soudha at night. Exploring Bangalore's landmarks after dark, when they are beautifully lit and free of crowds, is a core part of our rides.
We stumbled upon this vintage Fiat 1100 Super Select, beautifully decorated by fallen flowers. Finding these pretty old cars is one of the many joys of our midnight explorations in Indiranagar.
A perfectly timed moment. We stacked our cycles to watch a bright blue freight train pass by under a magnificent moon during our ride to Horamavu.
An old, arched gateway we discovered while exploring the historic lanes of the original Whitefield. These rides often feel like a journey back in time.
A hand-painted sign for 'Frangipani Avenue' in old Whitefield. The lanes here are named after flowers and trees, and cycling through them is a peaceful, magical experience.
Waiting at a railway crossing as a train rushes past in the night. These are the small, unexpected moments of city life that we get to witness on our rides.
Our bikes lined up in front of 'The Bay' at RMZ Ecoworld. The serene and beautifully lit campus was a fantastic discovery on one of our spontaneous night rides.
A close-up of a classic Premier Padmini we spotted in the quiet lanes of Indiranagar. Our rides are also a treasure hunt for these beautiful vintage cars.
A classic Mercedes we found parked on a quiet street in Indiranagar during our Christmas ride. You never know what automotive gems you'll find when exploring the city at night.
An overhead view of a quiet, decorated street in Indiranagar during our Republic Day ride. Seeing the city from different perspectives is a highlight of our journeys.
About Bangalore by Night: Our Discoveries
Our rides are never about racing. We cruise at a pace that lets us stop for lemon tea, chat, or pause at a railway crossing to watch a freight train roll by. Since we navigate real city streets, you will need to manage your own bike and minor repairs; we focus on keeping the group together and ensuring everyone gets home safe.
When the city traffic dies down, Bangalore transforms. We take routes through historic Indiranagar, the leafy avenues of Whitefield, and up to landmarks like Vidhana Soudha, which look completely different under moonlight. These rides are part treasure hunt and part social club. We have spent nights spotting vintage Fiats and Mercedes parked in quiet lanes, catching blue freight trains, and discovering the architectural history of neighbourhoods like the OG Whitefield outer circle.
The Reality of Our Rides
We are a volunteer-led community, not a commercial tour operator. We do not have support vehicles, mechanics, or rental fleets. This means you need to be comfortable riding on public roads and handling your own bike. Bangalore roads can be tricky with potholes and uneven surfaces, so we stick to well-lit, planned routes to keep everyone safe.
Why We Ride
It is simple. We want to reclaim the city at night. We want to prove that it is safe for everyone to be out, provided we ride in numbers and look out for each other. Whether it is grabbing a post-ride golgappa or waiting at a railway gate, the joy is in the unexpected. If you see a group of cyclists stopping to admire a vintage Maruti Omni or stacking bikes in front of a historic gate, that is likely us. Come with a sense of curiosity, a reliable bike, and be ready to chat.
Midnight Cycling
We are a bunch of Bangaloreans who believe the city reveals its true self after dark. We don't race; we explore, chat, and build a community that actually looks out for one another.
