This is not just another summer camp. Our Head of Business Development explains what makes our program different: a free skill assessment, structured levels, daily progress tracking, a 1:6 coach-to-student ratio, and our safe, no-touch teaching method.
We are committed to the highest standards of coaching. This video gives a behind-the-scenes look at our 'Train the Trainers' camp, where we ensure our coaches are equipped with the best techniques and knowledge to guide every swimmer to success.
Safety is a shared responsibility. Our head coach walks through some of the essential pool rules we enforce, such as not eating before a swim, informing coaches of any health conditions, and not running on the pool deck, to ensure a safe experience for everyone.
A quick visual tip on a fundamental swimming skill: proper breathing. This video shows the correct way to exhale underwater (through the nose) versus the incorrect way, helping beginners master this crucial technique.

About The Phelps Way: Our Coaching & Safety Method
The no-touch teaching method is what usually surprises new swimmers the most. Instead of physically moving your limbs, our coaches use foam noodles and verbal cues to teach buoyancy and balance. It removes the anxiety of being grabbed, allowing you to develop genuine water rhythm and confidence at your own pace.
We move away from traditional trial-and-error lessons to a structured, level-based curriculum. Each student starts with a formal skill assessment to determine their current ability, which places them into one of four specific tiers: Pre-Beginner, Beginner, Advanced Beginner, or Intermediate. By tracking individual progress on a growth form, you see exactly what skills you or your child are mastering, whether it is rotary breathing, body balance, or stroke refinement.
The 1:6 coach-to-student ratio ensures that the instructor is not splitting their attention between too many people, meaning you get corrections in real time. We also prioritize physiological comfort. Because our pools are temperature-controlled between 28°C and 31°C, the body does not tense up from cold water, allowing for better muscular control and focus.
Safety protocol remains rigid regardless of location: dedicated lifeguards are always on deck, separate from the coaching team, and we strictly enforce hygiene and pool conduct. Whether you are an adult learning to swim in your 60s or a parent starting your infant in a parent-child class, the methodology remains the same. We focus on safety first, skill acquisition second, and confidence as the ultimate result.
