About this collection
When you choose a sherwani, the fit and the feel of the fabric are everything. Our hand-embroidered pieces, especially the ones featuring heavy Poth Zardozi or delicate Aari work, are designed with a specific weight and structure that sits perfectly on the shoulders. If you are leaning towards velvet, remember that it carries a natural richness and warmth, which is ideal for evening events, while our raw silk options offer a lighter, sharper silhouette for daytime functions.
The Art of the Sherwani
Every piece in this collection is born from a desire to bridge the gap between traditional Persian aesthetics and the requirements of the modern Indian groom. When I design a sherwani, I start with the fabric’s weight. Whether it is premium heavy-gsm velvet or a lighter raw silk, the material must support the complexity of the hand-embroidery it carries.
Embroidery Techniques
- Poth Zardozi: This is the soul of our heavy sets. Using metallic threads and knotted work, I create textures that catch the light from every angle, providing a depth that machine-work simply cannot replicate.
- Aari Work: For pieces that require intricate floral or geometric patterns, Aari provides a fine, delicate finish. This technique allows for the tight, precise application of sequins and beads, ensuring the sherwani looks clean even up close.
- Meenakari Details: I often incorporate blue and pink Meenakari embroidery into off-white silks. This adds a subtle, colourful complexity that breaks the monotony of a single-tone outfit, making it a favourite for those wanting a regal but distinctive look.
Customisation and Fit
I believe the groom’s attire should be as unique as his story. Because we manage everything from the sherwani jacket to the matching safa and mojaris, we ensure a unified look. If you have a specific colour palette or wish to incorporate initials into the stole, we handle that during the embroidery phase. My studio in Bengaluru is where these details come together, with multiple trials included in our premium packages to ensure the garment moves with you rather than against you.
