From Sketch to Skin: My Custom Design Process
Before any henna touches your hands, I map out your story on paper. See how I turn your memories, hobbies, and favorite moments into a design that is truly one of a kind.

More pages from my sketchbook, showing a bride in a traditional lehenga and a depiction of Nandi, the sacred bull.
A work in progress, this video shows me creating a design of a musician playing the tabla, a unique and personal request from a client.

About this collection
I do not use a standard book of patterns for my custom bridal work. When you book a portrait or storytelling package, we start with a consultation where you share your specific ideas, whether it is a Varmala ceremony, a favorite vacation spot, or a childhood hobby. I sketch these concepts first so you can see exactly how the narrative will flow on your hands before I ever pick up a henna cone.
How We Design Your Story
Many brides come to me wanting something different. They are tired of seeing the same generic motifs everywhere. My process is built around turning your personal history into intricate henna art.
1. The Consultation Everything starts with a conversation. We discuss the vibe of your event and the key elements you want included. Are you looking for traditional Indian themes, or do you want to weave in modern elements like a specific skyline or a couple's portrait? We cover this during our planning phase.
2. The Sketchbook Phase Before I arrive at your venue, I have already mapped out the composition. I use my sketchbook to practice the proportions of portraits, ensuring that faces and figures look realistic and balanced. This is where I experiment with the placement of your chosen symbols—hiding your partner's initials or integrating floral trails around your main narrative.
3. Bringing It to Life Once we start the application in your home or venue here in Bangalore, the sketch acts as our blueprint. Because I focus on speed without compromising detail, I can manage complex designs—like full bride-and-groom portraits or 3D shading—without making you sit for hours on end.
Why Custom Matters The difference between a standard pattern and a custom piece is the emotion. Whether it is adding baby feet for a baby shower or a temple motif for a religious ceremony, these details make the mehndi yours. My goal is to ensure that when your guests look at your hands, they do not just see patterns; they see your life story.
Naresh Mehndi
Namaskara! I am Naresh, and I believe your mehndi should tell a story, not just fill your hands with ink. Whether you want a portrait of your partner or a specific memory captured in henna, I work with you to sketch it out and make it real.
