Professional Development: Training Our Facilitators
We don't just teach music; we build changemakers. Our fellowship is a journey of continuous growth, where we learn to turn every classroom into a space of joyful, inclusive discovery.
Our 'Teacher to Facilitator' training in session. Fellows watch a presentation, learning new techniques to go beyond traditional teaching and create more engaging, student-centered environments.
An interactive activity during our facilitator training. We use experiential learning to teach our fellows how to build energy, foster collaboration, and manage group dynamics.
Fellows watch a training video together, learning from experts and analyzing different facilitation styles. This is part of our commitment to their continuous professional growth.
A breakout session during our T2F training. Fellows work in small groups to practice new skills and receive peer feedback in a supportive environment.
The entire group comes together in a circle, holding hands to close a training session. This ritual reinforces our values of community, trust, and shared purpose.
A small group of fellows engages in a deep discussion during a training workshop. We create spaces for our team to reflect, share challenges, and learn from one another's experiences.
An outdoor training session where fellows are learning through practice and discussion. We believe in using diverse settings to inspire creative thinking and collaborative problem-solving.
About this collection
Our 'Teacher to Facilitator' training isn't a passive classroom lecture. It is an active laboratory where our fellows break down music pedagogy and social-emotional learning, practicing group dynamics in real-time through roleplay, peer feedback, and shared reflection sessions that prepare them for the field.
Moving from Teacher to Facilitator
Most music education focuses on theory and performance. At Manzil Mystics, our 18-month fellowship flips that model. We recognize that to impact children in government schools and community centers, our fellows need more than technical skill—they need the ability to guide, listen, and adapt.
The T2F Toolkit
During our intensive 'Teacher to Facilitator' (T2F) workshops, we focus on three core pillars:
- Experiential Learning: We use games and group activities to demonstrate how to build energy and collaboration, ensuring our fellows can replicate these in diverse settings.
- Responsive Pedagogy: We teach our fellows how to pivot their lesson plans based on the mood and needs of the students. It is about learning to recognize when to stick to the curriculum and when to pause for a conversation.
- Reflective Practice: The sessions include dedicated time for fellows to share their classroom challenges. We use this to analyze different facilitation styles and identify what truly works in the Delhi landscape.
Why This Matters
Our goal is to create sustainable impact. By investing in the professional development of our fellows, we ensure that every child they reach gets a consistent, supportive, and joyful learning experience. Whether it is through a guitar lesson in a community hub or a recording session on our Music Bus, our facilitators are equipped to handle the realities of the ground, transforming music into a language of growth.
Manzil Mystics Foundation
We are a community-led foundation that turns passionate young musicians into social changemakers. We don't just teach chords or scales; we help our fellows build the empathy and confidence needed to guide students in government schools and community centers.
