Eye makeup can make or break a look. I'll teach you everything from classic black smokey eyes to colorful Haldi looks and halo eye techniques, ensuring you can handle any client request with confidence.

Applying contact lenses is a basic but essential skill for a makeup artist. I show my students the safe and hygienic way to do it.

Creating a "color blast" or multi-toned eye look for events like Haldi is easier than it looks. I demonstrate a simple technique using a single brush to blend yellow and other vibrant shades.

Should you do eyes first or face first? I always recommend doing the eyes first, especially when working with clients who are sensitive to lash or lens application, to avoid ruining the base makeup.

Applying kajal on the waterline can be tricky, especially with contact lenses. I teach a technique to avoid getting kohl on the lens, which can blur the client's vision.

A common mistake is not correcting your work on the spot. I teach my students to recognize if a base is looking grey and fix it immediately, rather than waiting and letting the mistake set.

The smokey eye is one of the quickest and most impactful looks. I'm showing how to create the base with a black gel liner, which is the key to a perfect, non-patchy smokey eye.

Applying foils for a halo eye effect requires the right technique. I demonstrate how to press the foil onto the center of the eyelid for a beautiful, light-catching pop of shimmer.

Here's a quick eyeshadow tip: the color you apply often sets a tone lighter. I'm showing how to apply a pink shadow all over the lid for a soft, romantic look.

I'm demonstrating how to turn a classic black smokey eye into a glamorous cocktail look by adding pigments. I also explain why it's best to do this before applying lashes.

Applying shimmers is all about placement. I teach my students to use their finger for the best color payoff and to apply it on the center of the lid, avoiding the outer corner for a clean look.

About The Art of the Eye: From Soft Glam to Smokey

If your smokey eye looks more like a panda than a party look, it is usually the base, not your blending skills. In my classes, we don't just watch demos; we pick up the brush. If you are struggling with patchy blending or getting your eyeliner right on a client with contact lenses, we fix it on the spot. You learn why placing the pigment matters more than the number of brushes you use, ensuring your work stays clean and professional even under bright event lights.

The Foundation of Great Eye Makeup

Most artists complicate eye makeup with too many products. I teach a simpler approach. Whether it's a soft glam look for a day event or an intense, dramatic smokey eye for a reception, the secret lies in your base and your sequence. I always recommend finishing the eyes before the face makeup to avoid fallout, a technique that saves you time and clean-up effort.

Why Practice on Real Faces Matters

I don't believe in rote learning or mannequin practice. In my Dwarka studio, you work on real faces. We cover:

  • Smokey Eyes: Using a black gel liner correctly to avoid patchiness.
  • Halo Eyes: Creating that light-catching shimmer on the center of the lid without losing the depth at the corners.
  • Lash Application: Simple hacks to measure and apply lashes so they don't droop at the outer corners.
  • Correction: How to spot a grey base or a mistake in your pigment placement and correct it immediately, rather than waiting until the end.

Business-Ready Skills

This isn't just about art; it's about being able to deliver what a client pays for. If you get stuck with a client who has small eyes or is sensitive to lens application, you need to know how to pivot. My goal is to get you comfortable with these techniques so you can confidently offer any style, from bridal classics to trending party looks, to your own clients. If you ever hit a wall, remember, I am always just a call away.
