About Beauty & Expressive Portraits
Every beauty shot here relies on light placement, not heavy filters. Whether it is the soft, dappled light used for a painterly look or the dramatic chiaroscuro used to sculpt facial features, I adjust the gear, typically Sony Alpha bodies with Sigma Art lenses, to match the specific mood we are building on set.
Photography is rarely a solo act. When we shoot, I focus on the connection between the muse, the stylist, and the camera. Projects like the 'KALI' series or 'Ophelia’s Flower' are not just about the final image, but the hours spent planning the makeup, selecting the textures, and finding the right light.
The Process
- Concept & Styling: Before the shoot, we discuss the visual language. I work with a network of hair and makeup artists to ensure the styling—whether it is punk-inspired or classic ethnic—complements the mood.
- Technical Setup: I use Sony Alpha full-frame bodies paired with Sigma Art lenses to ensure skin texture and makeup details remain sharp. For dramatic portraits, I use Aputure/Amaran lights to create depth, often employing specific color gels to shift the atmosphere.
- Collaboration: I encourage tethered shooting. This allows the model, stylist, and client to view the images on a calibrated monitor in real-time, making adjustments to poses or expressions instantly rather than fixing them in post-production.
Locations & Availability
I regularly shoot across Mumbai, Delhi, and Ahmedabad. If you have a specific location in mind for an editorial or a portfolio shoot, I am happy to assist with scouting.
