Urban Canvases: Painting Bangalore's Streets
I take my easel to the streets to paint the city as it moves. From busy market stalls to quiet neighborhood corners, I capture the raw, real energy of Bengaluru right before your eyes.
Here I am working on an oil painting of a street-side fruit vendor's cart. The video shows the progression from a simple pencil sketch to a detailed, colorful scene, capturing a slice of everyday life in the city.
Setting up my easel on a busy commercial street to paint the scene in front of me. Even with the traffic and noise, I find a sense of calm in focusing on the shapes and colors, turning the urban chaos into a piece of art.
Art brings people together, even in a quiet alley. While I was painting this neighborhood scene, these curious kids stopped by on their bicycles to watch my progress. Their interest and smiles are a big part of why I love painting live.
Sometimes the simplest subjects are the most beautiful. This session was dedicated to capturing a single, striking tree on a city street, showing how I build up layers of color and texture to bring the subject to life.
This was a session focused on capturing a piece of Bangalore's architectural heritage. You can see me working on the painting with the actual building in the background, showing how I translate a real-world structure onto the canvas.
I was drawn to this building covered in beautiful flowering vines. This video shows me painting the scene from across the street, capturing the contrast between the man-made structure and the wildness of nature.
A simple street scene with a yellow school bus became my subject for the day. It's these ordinary moments that often make for the most interesting paintings, and it’s always lovely when passersby stop to see the work unfold.
Even a construction site has its own story. I set up my easel to capture the interesting shapes and colors of this urban scene, and soon a small crowd gathered to watch the live painting process.
About Urban Canvases: Painting Bangalore's Streets
People often ask how I manage to paint amidst the honking and the crowds. It is simple: I find a quiet rhythm in the chaos. I usually set up my easel in a 4x4 ft footprint, so I am not blocking traffic or anyone’s shop entrance. If you want to see your favorite Bengaluru spot or a meaningful architectural detail transformed into a live canvas, we can discuss the best location and time to catch the right light.
Why Street Painting?
There is a unique energy in Bangalore's streets that you cannot capture from a photograph. When I set up my easel—whether near a bustling market, a quiet Cubbon Park bench, or against the backdrop of our heritage buildings—I am not just painting a scene. I am recording the pulse of the city.
The Process
I specialize in working with acrylics and watercolors because they allow me to react quickly to the changing light. My setup is minimal; I arrive, find my angle, and start layering. Passersby often stop to watch, and that interaction is part of the work. You might see a curious student or a street vendor peeking over my shoulder; those moments are as much a part of the final painting as the architecture itself.
What You Can Expect
If you are looking for a piece of custom art, I can translate your vision into a cityscape. Maybe it is your first home, a street you frequented as a student, or a local landmark. We can chat about the specific vibe you want to capture—be it the morning golden hour or the moody, rain-washed evening light. Each piece is hand-painted, meaning it carries the texture and soul of the environment where it was born. Let’s talk about your space and what you want to see on canvas.
