Professional Earlobe Repair Surgery in Sarjapur Road
A torn earlobe does not have to be permanent. I perform precise, in-clinic repairs to restore your earlobe's natural shape using fine suturing, ensuring minimal scarring and a straightforward recovery.
This before and after collage shows the complete journey of an earlobe repair. You can see the initial tear, the precise sutures immediately after the procedure, and the clean, healed result. It's a quick and effective in-clinic treatment I perform for split earlobes, often caused by heavy earrings or accidents.
About Earlobe Repair
This is a 30 to 45-minute surgical procedure performed under local anesthesia. I use fine, non-absorbable sutures to carefully close the tear, aiming for a natural lobule curvature with minimal scarring. You will need to return to the clinic 7 to 10 days post-procedure for a quick suture removal visit. Note that while the repair is efficient, you must wait at least 3 to 6 months after the area has fully healed before getting your ears re-pierced.
Why Earlobe Tears Happen
Whether it's from wearing heavy traditional jhumkas, a sudden accident, or long-term wear from stretching, a torn earlobe is a common issue I see in my clinic. Many patients assume it is a permanent condition, but it is actually a quick, manageable correction.
The Surgical Process
When you come in for an earlobe repair, safety and precision are my priorities. The process includes:
- Assessment: We evaluate the depth of the tear to decide the best closure method, whether it is a Z-plasty or straight-line closure.
- Anesthesia: I use a local block with 2% Lignocaine to ensure the area is completely numbed so you feel no pain during the procedure.
- Suturing: I use fine, non-absorbable sutures (Prolene or Nylon 5-0/6-0) to minimize scarring. The goal is a clean, layered closure that restores the natural curve of your earlobe.
Recovery and Aftercare
Immediately after the procedure, I apply an antibiotic ointment and a sterile strip to protect the site. The most important part of your recovery is keeping the area clean and returning for the follow-up visit on day 7 to 10 to have the sutures removed. Please resist the urge to re-pierce the ear immediately. We need the tissue to heal completely, which takes roughly 3 to 6 months.
I focus on providing realistic outcomes. While the repair is durable, continuing to wear heavy earrings immediately after healing can sometimes lead to recurrence, so I always advise on responsible earring choices.
