Building Your Vertical Garden From Scratch

Want to know how we turn a plain wall into a living green space? It all starts with the frame, the drip system, and the right choice of plants.

The foundation of every great vertical garden is a strong, custom-fabricated MS (Mild Steel) frame. I build these to perfectly fit the space and support the entire structure securely.

For tall walls, I use proper scaffolding to ensure my team can work safely and efficiently at every height, paying close attention to detail from bottom to top.

Here you can see the initial setup in a challenging space, with scaffolding and panels ready for installation. I can build a vertical garden almost anywhere.

A team member installs the interlocking modular panels onto the MS frame. These panels are the backbone of the green wall, holding the soil and plants in place.

The drip irrigation lines are installed across the panels. This automated system is the secret to a low-maintenance garden, delivering water directly to each plant.

A wide variety of healthy plants, sorted and ready for planting. I carefully select the right species for the location, considering sunlight and design.

The planting process begins. Each pot is placed into the panel grid according to the design, creating patterns with different colors and textures.

The wall is starting to come alive. Here, the newly installed plants are settling in, with a mix of green and purple foliage creating a beautiful contrast.

A wider view of the nearly completed vertical garden. The pattern is clear, showing how different plant sections create a wave-like, natural design.

The finished outdoor green wall, looking full and vibrant. This is the immediate impact you get with a professionally installed vertical garden.

About The Build Process: From Frame to Finish

You are not just buying a wall, you are buying a system that needs to stand up to the weather. Every project I do starts with a custom-fabricated MS frame, not cheap pre-made kits, because I need it to fit your specific wall and hold the weight safely for years. When you look at my process, notice that the drip irrigation isn't just taped on, it is integrated into the grid so you aren't stuck manually watering it every single day.

Building a vertical garden that stays green for years isn't just about hanging plants on a wall. It is a technical process, and here is how I approach it:

The Foundation: Custom MS Framing

I never use universal sizes. Each site gets a custom-fabricated Mild Steel (MS) frame. I use 1-inch hollow pipes with an anti-rust coating. Why? Because if the frame rusts or bends, the whole garden comes down. For tall walls, I use proper scaffolding, not just ladders, to ensure my team gets the coverage right from top to bottom.

The Tech: Drip Irrigation

This is where most people fail. A vertical garden needs consistent water, not too much and not too little. I install a dual-line 16mm lateral pipe system running through every row. I use leak-proof elbows and connectors, so you don't end up with water dripping down your floor or wall.

The Greenery: Density and Selection

I pack the pots in—usually 8 to 12 pots per square foot depending on the density you want. I use a soilless mix (cocopeat and vermiculite) because it is lightweight and clean, unlike heavy garden soil that creates a mess indoors.

The Finish

Once the frame, irrigation, and panels are up, I place the plants. I match the species to your wall's sunlight levels. If it is an indoor wall, we use air-purifying shade lovers like Philodendron and Peace Lily. If it is an outdoor wall, I use sun-hardy plants like Boat Lily and Syngonium. The result is a living wall that is low maintenance, automated, and built to last.

I'm Krishna. I started this business because I wanted to see better greenery in our city. When I take on a job, I don't just send a team, I am involved in the framing and the planting because I know exactly how much water and sunlight these walls need to stay alive. If you want a vertical garden that's actually built to last, that's what I do.
