Festival & Cultural Art Backdrops
I paint custom festival backdrops that tell a story. Whether it is a celestial Ganpati sky or a Navratri celebration, I bring my Aagri Koli roots and artistic passion to your space.
This mural was part of a festival decoration, showing a fish leaping from the waves. This art is a tribute to my Aagri Koli fishing community heritage.
A panoramic view of a room-sized mural I created for a Navratri decoration. The scene depicts the Aagri Koli way of life against a backdrop of the sea and sky.
Another section of the expansive Navratri mural, showing the coastline and the sea. The goal was to create a fully immersive experience that tells the story of my culture.
This part of the mural shows the women of the Koli community on the beach, selling fish and talking. It’s these everyday scenes that I love to capture in my art.
A detailed shot of the fisherman and woman from the Navratri mural. I pay close attention to the traditional clothing and posture to make the scene authentic.
From a digital sketch on my iPad to a full-room mural. This video shows the process of creating the Aagri Koli themed decoration for the festival.
A shot of the moon backdrop I painted for a Ganpati festival decoration. Using an airbrush helps me create soft, realistic clouds and a glowing effect on the moon.
The final Ganpati decoration, with the beautiful idol set against the night sky backdrop I painted. The clouds are made of cotton to create a 3D effect.
A behind-the-scenes view of the Ganpati decoration setup. It takes a lot of teamwork and scaffolding to paint these large-scale backdrops.
A wide-angle view showing how the painted backdrop and the physical decorations come together to create a divine scene for the Ganpati idol.
About Festival & Cultural Art
For festival backdrops, I work primarily with durable Manjarpat cotton cloth. This is a practical choice because it is rollable, reusable, and holds paint beautifully, unlike temporary paper or flex banners. I start every project by sketching the concept on my iPad so you see exactly what I have in mind before I bring it to your wall.
My approach to festival art is rooted in my Aagri Koli heritage. When I paint a Ganpati backdrop or a Navratri stage, I want to capture more than just a theme. I use a combination of hand-painting and airbrushing techniques to create depth, soft cloud gradients, and celestial effects that really stand out under festival lighting.
How I Work
Every project follows a transparent process:
- Conceptualization: We discuss the vibe, whether it is a traditional scene or a specific cultural story. I show you a digital mockup on my iPad so you can visualize the scale and colors.
- The Medium: I use Manjarpat cloth. It is a traditional choice that feels organic and holds up well for the duration of the festival. Plus, it is easier to transport and store for next year.
- Execution: My team and I handle the painting, from the fine details on the idols to large-scale sky backgrounds. For Ganpati, I often use elements like cotton to create 3D cloud effects that make the scene feel immersive.
Why My Process Works
I understand that festivals are high-stress times for organizers and families. My turnaround time is usually 3 to 5 days. Because I handle the design and execution, I can adapt to last-minute changes or constraints in your space. Whether you need a backdrop for a large community pandal or a smaller home setup, my goal is to ensure the final piece looks perfect for your idol and your visitors.
