I use my drone to find quiet patterns in the chaos of the coastline. These shots explore the texture of the sea and sand from above, capturing the mood of the golden hour.

A close-up aerial shot of the ocean at sunset, where the low sun creates a golden reflection and highlights the texture of the parallel waves.

A top-down drone video shows a jet ski creating a wake, which is then slowly erased by the patterns of the incoming waves.

A drone video captures the serene beauty of a beach in Alibag, with the sun setting over the calm, reflective water.

About Coastal Perspectives: Aerial & Seascapes

When I shoot these coastal perspectives, I often fly the drone at lower altitudes to capture the specific texture of the waves rather than just a wide horizon. This technique, combined with intentional color grading, turns standard beach scenes into abstract landscapes, often shifting the natural palette toward those signature magenta and deep purple tones seen in my portfolio.

Flying a drone requires knowing how to handle coastal wind and light. I prefer the blue hour or the immediate minutes following sunset for these shots because the diffusion of light smooths out the water's reflection, creating that glass-like quality. While I shoot extensively across the Mumbai Metropolitan Area, I frequently head to spots like Alibag for these sessions. The shoreline there is broader and flatter, allowing for those top-down, symmetrical compositions that make the sea appear almost painted.

My process is not just about the capture. Whether I am waiting for the tide to recede to catch the wet sand reflections or tracking a boat's wake as it disrupts the waves, the goal is finding rhythm in nature. I don't just click and walk away. Each image undergoes a specific grading process in Lightroom where I balance the highlights to ensure the sun reflection—often resembling a blade of light—isn't blown out, while maintaining the subtle gradients in the sky. If you have a specific coastal location in mind for a shoot, let me know. I travel across India for projects and am always scouting new shorelines to add to my perspective.

I am a Mumbai-based photographer who chases the mood at the shoreline. My drone is my primary tool for finding patterns in the waves and light, and I am always looking to capture the coast from angles that you cannot see from the beach.
