The Art in Process: How I Create 3D Russian Sculpture
Peek behind the scenes to see how I transform plain surfaces into blooming 3D floral landscapes using just a palette knife and plaster.
This video answers a question I get a lot: "Why is sculpture art so expensive?" It shows the time and skill it takes to sculpt just one flower, petal by petal, and explains the cost of the imported materials I use.
A satisfying process video showing how I build up a floral design. You can see me sculpting leaves and flowers with my palette knife, bringing a blank space to life.
This close-up video shows the creation of a beautiful red and white carnation. The texture of the plaster is so creamy, it almost looks edible.

A satisfying compilation of different texturing techniques I use in my art, including stenciling with plaster and creating mosaic-like patterns.
A short, satisfying clip of me sculpting a bright turquoise flower. The video shows how a few simple strokes with the palette knife can create a beautiful, textured petal.
In this video, I create a tri-color fridge magnet inspired by the Indian flag for Independence Day. I used pastel shades of the colors to create a soft and pretty composition.

A work-in-progress video of a nameboard. You can see me adding the final flowers to the composition, building up the layers to create a full and lush floral arrangement.
About The Art in Process
It looks effortless in a thirty-second clip, but creating these 3D flowers is all about precise pressure and timing. Whether I am using imported Russian plaster for that perfect edge retention or mixing my own base for a textured look, the process is pure patience. You have to know exactly how much paste to load on the knife and when to stop layering before the bloom gets too heavy.
For those asking about my technique, this is where the magic happens. Russian sculpture art is distinct because it is not just painted; it is built. In these videos, you will see me work with professional-grade palette knives to shape every single petal. It is a slow, methodical process that requires a delicate touch.
I often get questions about why this art form takes so long to master. It comes down to the plaster. I rely on a mix of materials—sometimes high-quality Indian pastes for the base and specialized imported Russian pastes for the complex, delicate petals. The latter is incredibly tricky to work with because it holds texture differently, which is why it is essential to learn the right knife angles.
When you watch me working on a 12-inch wall clock or a small fridge magnet, you are seeing the same foundational skills. It is all about 'Jashn-e-Kala' or celebrating the art. I don't aim for factory-perfect results. Instead, I show you how to embrace the texture and the slight imperfections that make a flower look real. If you are curious about the tools I use or want to try mixing your own plaster, these clips give you a front-row seat to the actual craft.
