Stories from the Heart: Authentic Street Portraits
Every stranger I meet on Delhi's streets has a story to tell. These are the moments of connection that taught me more about life than any book could.
I met Shivani in a park as she was writing a book about her mother, who passed away from cancer. She was revisiting a place full of memories. Her story was deeply moving, and I felt honored to capture her strength and love.
Shiv Charan is a beautiful flutist from Nepal who I often see in Delhi. His music is full of soul, and his humility is inspiring. This is a small tribute to his unnoticed talent.
This is Bharat Kashyap. He took over his father's pani puri cart in Chandni Chowk to support his family. His sense of responsibility and his smile in the face of hardship is a story of pure strength.
About this collection
These are not photoshoots with planned poses. Most of these images come from a simple greeting on the street, a few minutes of conversation, and the trust that someone gives me to capture their reality. I do not use heavy artificial lighting or makeup artists, just natural light and the human connection of the moment.
When I started my 'Stranger Project,' I did not realize how much Delhi’s streets would teach me. My work is not about perfect lighting or expensive sets. It is about the woman writing a book in a park while grieving her mother, or the flutist in Connaught Place who never gets the attention he deserves.
I treat every camera interaction like a conversation. Whether we are in the busy lanes of Chandni Chowk or the quiet corners of Lodhi Garden, the goal is the same: capturing the person behind the face. If you are looking to get photographed, expect us to walk, talk, and find the spots where you feel most like yourself.
My Approach to Your Story
- No Stiff Posing: We keep things moving. I prefer natural movement, laughter, and real reactions over standing still.
- Location-Based: We pick a place that actually means something to you—your favorite cafe, a park you visit, or a street that holds history for you.
- Casual Consultation: Before we pick up the camera, we spend time talking about the 'vibe' you want. If you are shy, that is okay. Most of my best portraits start with a bit of hesitation.
