About Sleek Modular Kitchens & Dining
When designing a kitchen, I prioritize the workflow efficiency of the space. For most Bangalore apartment layouts, I recommend an L-shaped configuration because it keeps your stove, sink, and fridge reachable but distinct. I use BWR-grade plywood for all cabinets to withstand dampness and standard soft-close hardware to ensure your shutters last years without wear, regardless of how often you cook.
The most common mistake I see is prioritizing looks over the mechanics of a kitchen. A beautiful finish matters, but if the internal layout is wrong, you will struggle with it daily.
My Approach to Kitchen Design
- Durability First: I use BWR (Boiling Water Resistant) plywood for the carcass because kitchens here deal with a lot of moisture.
- Smart Storage: I integrate tandem box drawers and pull-outs instead of traditional shelves. This allows you to utilize every inch of depth, so you aren't digging to the back of a cabinet to find a pan.
- The Finish: For the shutters, I suggest high-gloss laminate or acrylic. They are non-porous and wipe clean easily, which is crucial for a space that sees daily oil and spice usage.
- Lighting: Don't underestimate task lighting. I install profile LED strips under overhead cabinets to light up your workspace directly, so you aren't working in your own shadow.
Planning Your Space
If you have a smaller kitchen, we can use handle-less cabinets and light, neutral tones to make the room feel larger. For larger spaces, we can incorporate a breakfast peninsula or a crockery unit to separate the dining area. We start by mapping out your daily habits, then we build the layout around that. If you are renovating, I can also help with electrical looping and plumbing adjustments to make sure your modular setup fits perfectly.
