Movement Coaching & Choreography Workshops
Whether you are a complete beginner or an artist looking to refine your stage presence, I help you find your rhythm. Let's make your next performance look natural, confident, and full of soul.
Here's a fun behind the scenes look at me coaching the wonderful Bharti Singh for a Maharashtrian Lavani dance piece. My job was to help her with the authentic steps and expressions of this vibrant folk dance.
This video shows a rehearsal session where I am assisting with the choreography for a large group of dancers. Leading workshops and helping artists refine their movements is a part of my work that I deeply enjoy.
About Movement Coaching & Workshops
Don't stress if you think you have two left feet; most of the people I train tell me the exact same thing when we start. My workshops are built to fix that anxiety first. I break down choreography into 1-hour sessions, focusing on simple, repeatable steps that fit your body's comfort level rather than forcing complex moves that look stiff. Whether it's a Sangeet group performance or a solo, my goal is to get you stage-ready by keeping it fun and relaxed.
My dance training is deeply rooted in Kathak, but I love mixing that technical control with the energy of Bollywood and folk styles. When we run a workshop, we aren't just mindlessly copying YouTube steps. I take the time to look at your natural movement, your confidence, and the vibe of the song to create a routine that feels like you.
My coaching process usually covers:
- Assessment: A quick look at your comfort level so we don't start with something too hard.
- Simplification: Breaking the song down into manageable, easy-to-remember parts.
- Technical Details: Helping you with posture and the subtle facial expressions (Abhinaya) that actually make a performance stand out on stage.
- Practice Tools: I provide recorded video tutorials of our sessions, so you can practice at home without feeling lost between classes.
If you are a beginner, we start with basics to build your muscle memory. If you are an artist or performer, we focus on camera blocking and stage presence. For group events like weddings, I make sure the choreography is synchronized so everyone looks like a team. It’s not just about the steps; it’s about making the dance look effortless and 'sahi' (right) for the stage.
