Behind the Scenes: My Crochet Process
Ever wonder how a simple ball of yarn becomes a little friend? Here is a peek into my Delhi studio where every loop counts.
This is the head of a custom doll being held by my sweet nephew. It shows the beginning stages of a doll coming to life, even before the body is attached.
Here are the first completed parts of the Clara Doll. You can see the body and the large bow, all crocheted and ready for assembly.
These are some of the accessories and hair for the Setenay Doll. I often crochet all the small, detailed parts first before putting the whole doll together.
The beginning of a surfer doll named Tabias. This photo shows his legs, a purple headband, and his unique brown hair, all waiting to be assembled.
These are the separate parts of the platypus toy before I stitched them all together. You can see the head, body, arms, and feet, all created individually.
About Behind the Stitches: My Process
People often ask if my dolls are ready-made, but the truth is every single piece starts as separate parts. I crochet the limbs, head, and outfits individually before carefully sewing them together. This invisible joinery is why my dolls hold their shape so well even after lots of hugs.
When you order a custom doll or a pet replica, you are not just getting a toy. You are getting hours of careful assembly. I prefer using mercerized cotton yarn for my human dolls because it gives that crisp, clean look you see in my photos. For the cuddly plushies, I switch to super soft chenille yarn.
Whether it is a custom replica of your pet or a specific anime character, the process always stays the same: I sketch the design, I stitch the individual parts, and then I assemble. It takes time, but seeing a pile of yarn parts turn into a face with personality is what keeps me going. Because everything is handmade, there might be tiny variations, but that is exactly what makes your piece a 'handstory' unique to you.
