Free No-Sew Seal Keychain Crochet Pattern

byGrimmery CrochetStarts from0 per accessView full gallery

Ready to whip up something cute? This no-sew seal keychain is one of my favorite designs—it’s squishy, quick, and perfect for when you want a project that comes together fast without the hassle of sewing parts on later.

This is the finished no-sew seal, made with a chunky white yarn to look like a baby harp seal. The pattern includes instructions for the bobble stitches that form its cute little fins.

You can make the seal in any color you want. This one was made with a soft purple velvet yarn, and it’s just as squishy and cute.

This short video tutorial shows the basic steps of my no-sew seal pattern, from starting the magic ring to stuffing the body and finishing the amigurumi shape.

This is the official pattern card for my no-sew seal. I’m so excited to share this free pattern with y'all.

Here are the step-by-step instructions for the seal. The pattern is written using standard crochet abbreviations and guides you through each round, including where to place the eyes and embroider the nose.

This slide lists all the materials and abbreviations you'll need for the seal project. I used thin velvet yarn and a 4.5mm hook, but you can adjust based on your preference.

Just a few final notes for the seal pattern. I explain the bobble stitch I used for the fins and remind everyone to tag me when they share their finished creation. I love seeing what you make.

About Free Pattern: No-Sew Seal Keychain

This project is all about 'no-sew' magic, meaning you'll crochet those tiny fins directly onto the body as you go. You'll need to master the Bobble Stitch to get that signature shape, but I've broken it all down below. If the stitch placement feels tricky at first, just send me a message—I'm happy to help you figure it out.

Making Your Own Seal

This pattern is designed to be as stress-free as possible. Since it is a no-sew amigurumi project, you won't need to spend hours attaching limbs at the end.

What you need to get started:

  • Yarn: I highly recommend using a soft velvet or chenille yarn. It makes the seal extra squishy and helps the Bobble Stitches stand out.
  • Hook: A 4.5mm hook works best with this weight, but feel free to adjust based on your tension.
  • Extras: You will need a bit of poly-fill for stuffing and safety eyes to give your seal that cute look.

Why No-Sew?

I became obsessed with no-sew designs because, let's be real, less sewing means more time for making. You create the fins using the Bobble Stitch directly into the main body rounds. It might take a moment to get the rhythm right, but once it clicks, you will be able to whip these up in no time.

Stuck on a Stitch?

I know the Bobble Stitch can be intimidating if you haven't done it before. I have included video demonstrations and a stitch legend in this guide to help you out. If you are still confused, please reach out. I love seeing the photos of what y'all create, so do not forget to tag me when you finish your first seal!
