Corporate Workspace Landscape Design for Performance
We integrate biophilic design as functional infrastructure to enhance employee wellbeing, improve indoor air quality, and meet ESG standards in modern office environments.
At Accenture, the objective was to create breakout spaces people genuinely use. I designed landscaped seating for cafeterias and breakout zones where greenery brings comfort into the workday, turning functional areas into inviting corners for pause and recharge.
The entrance to our Accenture workplace project. The design intent was to create a landscape-led environment that begins from the moment of arrival, setting a tone of calm and balance for the entire office.
This outdoor cafeteria seating at Accenture was designed for daily use, providing a space for employees to connect with nature during their breaks. The pergola offers shade while the surrounding planters create a sense of privacy and enclosure.
For the indoor cafeteria at Accenture, I wove greenery into the seating arrangements. This integration of plants softens the architecture and creates a more relaxed, restorative dining experience within a corporate setting.
Green corners like this one at Accenture are strategically placed to add calm to high-traffic pathways. They serve as visual anchors that break the monotony of a typical office environment and improve the daily journey through the space.
This is a closer look at the planter design for a corporate cafeteria. The selection of Dieffenbachia and other foliage plants was based on their aesthetic appeal and resilience in an indoor environment, transforming a simple break space into a green accent.
A view of the integrated planters in a corporate cafeteria. The wooden planters and white pebble top dressing create a clean, modern aesthetic while the lush plants improve indoor air quality and visual comfort.
Another perspective of the planter design, showing how the varied leaf textures and heights create a dynamic yet cohesive green feature. This approach to biophilic design ensures the space feels alive and thoughtfully curated.
This arched walkway, lined with planters, creates a unique transitional experience within the office. It is designed to feel like a gateway, separating work zones from break areas and adding an element of architectural interest.
Here, planters are integrated into a media wall unit. This design solution ensures that even functional areas are infused with nature, reinforcing the principle that biophilic design should be part of the core infrastructure, not just an addition.
About Corporate Workspaces: Designing for Performance
When integrating greenery into office layouts, avoid placing loose pots in corners. We use soil-free, self-watering planter systems that integrate directly into desk partitions and glass dividers. This eliminates the risk of water damage to office flooring and carpets while ensuring low-maintenance upkeep that helps your team maintain focus.
Designing Workspaces as Performance Tools
Most corporate landscaping is an afterthought, a decorative element added after the furniture is set. We flip this model by treating greenery as a functional infrastructure layer. Our approach to biophilic design is data-driven, focusing on how specific plant systems influence indoor air quality and cognitive performance.
Why Infrastructure, Not Decoration?
- ESG & WELL Standards: We select species based on their ability to filter indoor pollutants, helping your facility meet sustainability and wellness certifications.
- Zoning without Walls: Use strategically placed, acclimatized plants like Snake Plants and ZZ plants to divide open-plan zones. This reduces ambient noise and creates private nooks without closing off the space.
- Turnkey Maintenance: Our installations for clients like Prudential and Accenture include soil-free potting mixes and concealed irrigation systems. This prevents the messy runoff associated with traditional planters, keeping your carpets and workstations pristine.
Our Process
We begin with a site assessment to map natural light availability and AC airflow. This determines the exact species density and placement required. Whether it is a living wall in your reception area or a series of desk partitions, every design decision is made to optimize the environment for your employees.
Green World Design
I founded Green World Design because I saw corporate spaces lacking the air quality and calm necessary for deep focus. My team and I build living systems that perform, not just sit there as decor. We work directly with architects and facility managers to ensure every plant we install contributes to the office's overall function.
