How We Build Living Walls
Many think a vertical garden is just a set of pots hung on a grid. In reality, it is a living, structural element that requires specific care. When we take on a project, whether it is for a residential balcony or a commercial lobby, we start with a site assessment. We check the sunlight direction, airflow, and wall structure before suggesting a design.
Our systems are built on a modular grid of UV-stabilized plastic panels. This modularity is important because it allows for easy plant replacement without dismantling the whole wall. To prevent moisture damage, we mount everything on a sturdy metal frame with a waterproof protective layer between the grid and your wall. This ensures your paint and structure remain intact.
Irrigation and Maintenance
For large-scale installations, we integrate a concealed drip irrigation system. This means the plants receive consistent water directly at the root zone via emitters, removing the need for manual misting or watering. This keeps the environment around the wall clean and dry, which is critical for indoor office setups or home living rooms.
We typically use a mix of Syngoniums, Philodendrons, and Ferns. These are selected because they are resilient, air-purifying, and provide that lush, full look that covers the grid completely once settled. After installation, we provide guidance on care. If you are too busy for maintenance, our Home Mali team can step in for scheduled visits to handle pruning, pest checks, and feeding.
