About Behind the Seams: My Story
My sewing machine is rarely quiet, and my dog is rarely awake, as she’s usually busy snoozing under the desk while I work. When you see a collar from Dirty Paws, know it didn't come off a factory assembly line. It came from this little corner of my room, crafted with specific attention to durability because I know what our Indian streets put accessories through. It is a bit messy, yes, but it is real work with real materials, and that is the only way I know how to do it.
People often ask how a NIFT graduate ended up sewing reflective collars for streeties instead of chasing a corporate job. The truth is simple. I watched a dog dart across a dark road, and my heart just stopped. That fear is what started the 'Illuminate India' project. It began with me painting pet portraits for fun, but today, my mission is to make sure every tail wag on our streets is visible to drivers at night.
Behind the Scenes
This isn't a factory. It’s just me, my sewing machine, and my muse (who provides moral support via naps under the desk). When you order a custom name collar or a twinning set, I am the one selecting the fabric, measuring the nylon webbing, and embroidering the names.
Why Reflective?
Indian streets are unpredictable, especially after dark. I choose high-intensity silver reflective fabric not just because it looks bright, but because it saves lives. I have tested these on dogs of all sizes, from tiny pups to community strays, ensuring the fit is comfortable enough that they don't try to claw it off.
The Bigger Picture
Every bulk order of collars for street dog welfare groups is a win. Whether it is a small pack for a neighborhood pack or a larger order for a rescue drive, the goal remains the same: safety. When you support Dirty Paws, you aren't just buying a product. You are keeping a stray dog safe, helping me keep my sewing machine running, and joining a movement that believes empathy is the best kind of creativity.
